Just had a mad thought race through my disturbed mind, would it be better to grade a session?
If an Am session is cleared [50] in windless conditions and the top score for the windy afternoon session is [40],would it be fair to only get 80% for an obviously brilliant effort?
Would it not be an idea to grade the session that you shoot in separately ;)
Surely this would be a more accurate account of what took place on the day.
After all other sports get compensation for wind ,why not FT.

Do you mean have a top score of both sessions?

So who win's the shoot, highest morning score or p.m one. And does it mean that there's twice the work load. i.e stats and grading officer ??

    Top score

The highest scores on the day could still take the honours but without penalising the shooters of the more difficult session.

The problem would be that you need to have balanced sessions in terms of upper capability. you could easily end up with disproportionate averages dependant on who shot the sessions.

Good idea but would not work.

    Disproportionate

Jack Harris , Mark Basset AM
Andy Calpin and James Osborne PM seems even to me.
It was just a mad idea but somewhere in the insanity there's a thought .
It happens all too often that the weather takes a turn for the worse or sometimes the rain clears and a beautiful afternoon follows .
So is it fair that people's efforts are judged by others good fortune?

As those are the rules that we choose to shoot within, yes.

Shoot 10m indoor, there's no wind to worry about (or good fortune)

Is it fair? Yes, it's swings and roundabouts in terms of conditions not just from am to pm but from lane to lane. I've not shot for long but the number of times I've sat down and the wind has changed from the shooter before is crazy! It's all part of the fun :)

looking at the weather for harriers sunday.....am session 5% chance of rain, 20 to 30 mile an hour wind speed...pm session 75% chance of rain and 30 to 50 mile an hour wind speed "metcheck weather" if that happens ? Any one shooting pm session may as well not bother...ive been shooting long enough to know the pm session will be a totally different shoo t to the am session and a pointless exercise...and a waste of petrol money....if the forecast is correct that is???

We do the same, but something tells me you have never been at the sharp end of hft...the winning end, so no doubt you would no uve got no chance of winning, just because your shooting in the wrong session, ps would love a peg to lean against on Sunday

Wow! That didn't take long for the cats claw's to come out :D yep you right never been at the "sharp End" as this is my second year at HFT and my first compation shoot was the Air Arm's memorial shoot back in September 14. Didn't win that one either:( as to having no chance of winning, well I didn't know you could predict the future! Best not waste any more effort on trying then.:(
I would love a nice thick cushion to sit on ;)

Don't forget the butt hook, gimp suit, knee riser, super deep hamster, windicator, spirit level, 50 mag scope, temperature strip and i'm sure there's a few other things.

But yes, we do have a peg :)

I do however see where you are coming from, I have shot comps where the morning was blowing a gale, but by midday the wind had gone and the sun came out.

This is why in ukahft all the top shooters shoot in session 1, this way all the top boys are on a level ish playing field.

    FT review

    Mr Chillingworth
I seem to remember you could not cope with all that FT gear being lugged around Mad a couple of years back.
So our 4 event review that we were promised got compressed into one experience at your local shoot.
This year is the 25th anniversary of the Nefta Classic ,get booked in and shoot a proper tough FT comp to do a review on.
And if you put your name on the taybarns list and i'll buy you dinner for your trouble
There's even a class for your HFT gear to be used ,SFT.
But be warned, theres no pegs and the only tree in the sillies shed is the Old Oak holding the stop watch.
    Simon
P.s local weather for Sunday does show it windy but not 20-50 mph more like 15-20

Why would you want a review of an FT shoot put in a comic, just like HFT it's only for kids! :D
