    I was shocked

    Stu,

To be honest I was surprised to the fact that he did not receive a prize for winning the worlds...!!!

Surely a sponsor would jump at the chance to be the main sponsor for the worlds.

Steyr always seemed to be the main sponsor in last several worlds...?

It's not a bad thing that he got more for coming second in he gp series than for becoming world field target champ.

I don't know the facts surrounding the prizes at the world's but the entry fee covered your entry to the event, a meal at the "Meet and greet" evening, and the presentation dinner at the grand hotel. Everyone who turned up got something.:)
The large number of cancelled entries made a huge impact on the available budget the NFTAC had to play with too. As to the sponsors, i don't know, it was said that due to the olympics, Steyr were unable to attend the event as in past years, i don't know if that was the case though.:)

Steyr didn't go as it was too far with too many borders in their technical servicing van. Anyway it's the second fiasco in a row, I was lucky to have won a sponsored gun last year but the rest of the winners got a plastic trophy that was of the same quality you'd present 6 year olds at school sports day. At least in Norway there was a crystal trophy and momento rock for all winners and everyone got a WFTF medal and certificate for participation. Still should have been decent prizes though.

Last year there were a number of prizes given. Most so far I think.

    Open got a Steyr
    Springer a TX200
    junior a EV
and ladies a GINB stock if I recall correctly.

Cant remember if veterans or lady springer got anything

I think most people feel the same, even though I did not go to Norway, the prizes were crap. Think a nice gun Or scope should be the minimum for winning. Let's all chip in and get him something worthy. No sarcastic required, I'm being serious. Neil.

I recall Andy saying that they were out 51000 NOK due to cancellations.
That a large chunk off any budget.

Why should The WFTF expect STEYR to always be the sponsor.??
Is it the STEYR WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS??

About time someone got off their arse and "sold" the FIELD TARGET scene WORLDWIDE!

    AirArms
    Anschutz
    Steyr
    Walther

    Take it in turn?

Love what Karl and Ernst and all of Steyr do but it shouldn't be down to them and them alone.

    Rant over for now

Gilly should have got a decent prize

Do you think the worlds has gone away from a individual competition and more a team competition, should it revert back to how it was and world federation get sponsorship as a committee rather than the host country.
