Not one open club shoot so far this year . why not . i would like to propose that every club in the BFTA has an open shoot . FT/HFT . whatever . the club shoots are the breeding ground from which the best GP shooters emerge . if prizes are a pain , why not give a straight cash prize depending on the entry size . whadda yah think ??? Millride held an open last year and I think apart from our own members, there were less than 20 entrants.
The Warwickshire open is always a fantastic shoot at Purley Chase, yet never gets the attendance it deserves.

I think with the time and ever increasing cost involved in attending GPs pretty much every other Sunday, most open shoots will always struggle to be well supported.

I should be making my way to this open Hols, why not come up for a day out. Hobnobs all round?

Swefta and Wafta both have summer leagues so no shortage of summer shoot dates.
Perhaps Sefta need to look at a small summer league?

Think part of the problem is that the FT shoots pack 9 GP's into a period enough to see a GP almost every other weekend, with 2 full weekends either end of champs, masters, showdown, inters, and the euros, and the worlds... and the calendar is stuffed full in between. When I took the date for Boink, there was only 4 weekends free of any other shoot that wasn't FT, HFT or LV springer, or SH... and one of them I couldn't do.

We also shoot the SWEFTA summer series, which means we have a regional comp (albeit almost everything 1.5 - 3.5 hours travel) to throw into those dates as well. So for the local boys it would probably be just another comp.

I think there's 3 weekends I am not shooting until the showdown in October.

That's why i put the post up about saturdays.
