    MTC Connect SL 3-12 x 24, I was using a 30yd zero with x9 mag & 23yd px. But I am now prefering my current set up of 37yd zero, 8x mag & 23yd px.

    As I shoot HFT wearing everyday slightly modded varifocus glasses, the settings on my :
    Bushnell Elite 6500 I parallex at 19yds to allow me to see closer targets clearer and(15mm dia on our extreme),generally other make scopes are blurry until 17yds;Bushnell are clearer closer.
    Zero set at 35yds.Mag set at 8.5X.

    When using Bushnell Elite 3200 set parallex 20yds, mag set at 10X zero 35yds.....My main 3200 was factory set at this in 1983.

    X10 because thats were the mildots are true. Px at 23yds as this allows me to see close ups and just a shade of blur at the far end allows me to differentiate between 42 and 45 yds.

    MTC Viper fixed 10 mag set @ 23yds, again as many do because its a tad blurred at 15 and 40+
    so aids range finding

    25 yard zero, 26- 30 yds PA high mounts, 9.5 mag on my Sr-6 as it means I can shoot 35yd & 40yds 25mm targets using pretty much half a dot, 35 is just above & 40 just below. I tried a 35yd zero & couldn't get on with it.

    45 = 1 dot (or just below with certain batches of pellets)
    40 = just below half dot
    35 = just above
    30 = pretty much inside top of kill
    25/20 = on
    15 = half dot
    13 = 1 dot
    10 = 1 & a half
    8 = 2 & a half

    I have shot this for years & get on OK with it.

    My new setup is Daystate Regal (in target stock) now with a Burris Timberline (bdc ret) scope set at 10 mag. Px is "just past" the 20yrd marker with 25yrd zero. 19-28 on crosshair, 1st hash 13-35yrd, 2nd hash 8-48yrd (this is with LOW mounts & making about 10.5 ft/lb with 8.4 jsb's)! VERY slight blur at about 10 yrds or less & 40+ yrds! Virtually no parallex error as it's got 5" of eye relief (head out of position & you can see Fook all!) :D

    I also HATE hold under!:shot:

    Do you mean you hate 'hold under' ?

    For instance if you had your zero at 35 or 40yrds so some shots were hold under, say 20 & 25yrds.

    At 25yrds zero with .177 everything is pretty much hold over apart from elevated and low shots.

    Falcon 4-14 FFP at 7x mounted as low as possible on Steyr LG110
    focus at about 20 meters as is the zero , all holdover
    I prefer clear view , just the longest and shortest ones are blurry

    I use MTC Viper with a fixed 10x, so can't alter; the px is around 22 or 23 yards, with the zero about 32 yards. The mounts are low and give me 8 & 55 yards - 2 mil dot, 10 & 45 yards - 1 mil dot, 12 & 40 yards - 1/2 mil dot, 30 yards just above line, 35 yards just below, 22 to 26 yards - 1/2 mil above.

    This give me blur below 15 yards and from 38 yards, but I can judge the extremities using the blur and the mark one; having said this, I have an MTC Mamba light 3-12x42 which is much better even set to the same 10x; it allows me to see from 11 yards out to about 47 yards when the px is set to 17 yards, this is currently on my hunting set up, but am thinking I might change it if my scores don't improve soon, either the scope or use the hunting rifle.

    The new scope is set as per the Viper, so doesn't blow my mind (or what's left of it)

    Use an MTC Mamba 3-12x44 on a TX200Mk2
    23 ish yd parallax which matches roughly with my zero, and gives me my best field of view allied to my chosen 7 magnification. I have a little blur at 15yds and its clear out to just over 30yds,the mag seems to fit in very well with bracketing and aim point marks, I have used this for well over 2 years now and not done so bad with it.

    MTC viper fixed 10 mag, 23 yd parallax and a 37 yard zero.

    Just loosing clarity at 15 and 40 yards so helps with range finding. i switched to a 37 yard zero as i noticed i was missing quite a lot of longer 25mm kills and with a 37 yd zero can stay insdie the25mm kill at all HFT ranges.

    Sightron S111 10x42 25yd parrallax its meant to be zeroed somewhere under the ret at 17yds but think it has crept up a bit. On low low mounts. Use the scope in different ways for different ranges. As I use it.

    8yds is one dot.

    13yds is above half a dot.

    30yds is above half a dot.

    35yds is half a dot.

    40yds is on top of dot.

    45yds is bottom of dot.

    Range it blurred then clear it using different methods. Scope kicked me to death for months finally getting to grips with it.

    If I shoot it normal 8 is two and 45 a good one and half but I don't shoot it like that as I hate blurr.

    Monkey.

    I've yet to shoot any hft, but this thread is a mine of useful information in terms of giving a newbie an "off the shelf" setup to start from before adjusting to taste. Nice one.
