I know it's probably a bit late in the day, and it's only early days thinking out loud at the moment... but how many would be interested in spring gun only comp down south somewhere, midsummer perhaps?

I've quite enjoyed shooting the thing, and I know there's some spring nuts lurking out there as well... what do you reckon?

All SWEFTA FT league shoots have a piston section. Usually about three entrants though.

Yeh, CSFTA only had 1 this year ;)

But was wondering if a one off event may take the pressure off doing it in a league where people may prefer to push with a pcp, perhaps give some an excuse for a bit of travel to share the game with a few like minded nutts. I know there's a few hanging around MFTA, if we could find a good date, and a good host, could make an event out of it, perhaps something a little different to run each year if successful?

Have a chat with Matt Crouch at East Devon. Maybe it could be combined with the annual Barn Door shoot.

So long as it wasn't at a venue too far away (pensioner on a partly fixed partly index linked income!!) I'll even have a go with my 20+ year old HW80 in 22 calibre, now how's that for dopey? :D

Point of interest, have a section for classic guns, must be 20 years old. I've got a very nice Diana 38 that needs an airing, 1980 built and the blueing is stunning.

Helen, if Alan Hollaway hasn't got one, i'll sort one out for you, anything to see Rob's face.

Rob, i like the sound of this, might have to give it a try myself, along with Mick Kelly/Dean Wood etc.

As it happens I've got a nice Venom '77 that I bought from Mr Farnworth...... imagine, not only being beaten by your other half.... but with your old gun!

I reckon I might set the old boinger up again for this.

    Alan.

If you are trying to do a one off comp and attract as many shooters as possible then wouldn't it be better held in the midlands?

Would be if I lived there ;) :D...But seriously, living about as far south as you can get before heading west, i need to think about what I can do myself if i'm thinking of doing it. Put it this way, viable clubs are 30 mins to an hour from me, and they are the local ones. First Midlands club is 2-2.5 depending on traffic.

This is a shoot that would interest me.

I have proved to myself that I can shoot a spring gun effectively over the winter, I have also proved to myself that I can't shoot a spring gun effectively over the winter too:confused:

As ever enough time to do these things seems to be the problem, still not sure how to approach the 'oh by the way dear did I mention I'm off to Weston Park for a couple of days after my return from Italy, oh and then I'll be off to Newbury after that..........' Oddly enough it might suit her........
