    Welsh Masters at Nelson

Early days I know, this should be a great day out for people to attend.

80 shots over 2 courses of 40. Courses will be run along side each other but clearly marked for shooters.

Looking at maximum of 120 entrants for the comp, 3 shooters per lane.

£10 entry. Might have to be pre-paid to cover prizes etc....?

Will be looking to get a burger van on site for the day as well so no need for sarnies etc.

More details to follow for this competition...

Any questions then please PM myself on here.......

    The Welsh Masters 2011

Well not long for this shoot now. It appears as though this clashes with a few other shoots sadly.
There wont be a burger van on site for this as it appears the numbers wont be as high as expected.
There will be the usual free tea and coffee from the pink flamingo lounge.
The course's are looking superb fair play. Have to say a big thanks from the club to Simon Tipping. Hes done a superb job as usual.
Hope to see all the WAFTA shooters attend to make this a great shoot as it deserves to be.
So pull ur fingers out and get to the shoot. There isnt many top 80 shot comps out there these days so lets make this one worth attending.

    Bacon

    Mike,

Its upto you fella, I will be up the ground Saturday and I can have a chat to the lads to see if they want to do the same as last time with making rolls etc for the members.

If they say yes, might take extra to make some rolls for the other lads, might have to charge though to cover the food???

    See what happens......

    80 shots.................

Well the course is out, kills need to be painted and strings sorted.

The 80 shots look superb and Im looking forward to it.

Shame theres other comps on in othr regions etc.

I will be making bacon and sausage rolls, they will be free to club members and £1 for non-members. tea and coffee will be free to everyone on the day mind.

Im hoping for a good turn out from WAFTA members to support a great competition...

Times etc for the course on the day

I am looking to give a shooting briefing when competitiors turn up at 9am.

It will initially be a shotgun start for approximately 09:30am. If others then turn up then they can join on at lane 1.

There are 2 seperate courses set out, they are yellow course and white course.

The yellow course will be the one shot first in the morning and then the white course in the afternoon session.

I am hoping to have a break between courses say half an hour, so that will happen when the last shooter comes off the yellow course.

It makes it easier to maintain with a bit of order there etc. No one cocks up then do they(fingers crossed).......

It is an open so there will be some longer than usual reducers and the odd long shot to contend with. It is set out over the first 2 fields and goes around in a horse shoe style. Like the GP course in 2009. So not a long walk for people.....

hope to see you there and enjoy the day.....

Can you confirm the entry fee, as on the main add for this event it says £8.00 not £10.00 ?

    Pre pay

We did look at pre paymnt for entry before, due to the other opens on in other regions we scrapped that plan.

We have looked at, in WAFTA we run A, B, and C class.

If there is enough entries, we will put on a money prize for each of the class winners.

The entry fee at previous Welsh Masters was £8. That was for 60 shot format. We are now reviving the 80 shot format and as such it is £10 entry. For the courses we have set out it is worth the money. Im sure people who have shot at the ground knows how good it is. Plus it wont be as hard as the GP course.....

    Yes Simon,

Depending on numbers, there might be a money prize for each class winer. Just be something extra for us all to fight for eh...

    off plate

Forecast not great for Sunday. High winds and heavey rain.

Makes staying at home and watching Wales vs S.Africa more of an option??

Pity this event is not on sept 25th? might get a better turnot with some of the eenglanders attending too?

Due to weather and waterlogged ground, shoot postponed to Sept 25th.

I asked Berty yesterday but he said he had not been to nelson in the past few days so was not sure how boggy the ground is.
its a bit dryer for the next couple of days but wet again on the weekend?

Depends where the firing line is, parts of nelson are ok in the wet, parts are very boggy.

Will be going ahead on 25th

We have post poned this shoot once, this time it will be going ahead.

The ground has been good throughout the weather, I know I havent been up there due to Euro's etc and shifts. Im sure the lads will get hold of me later today to tell me how the ground is....
