Avon Hawks is the venue for the opening 2012 Wafta Ft champs.

    classes fr C. b, a + AA (at last)

Nice ground, mix of thick pine wood and more open wood with tree!

Shep tells me some changes are being made to the course to spice it up a bit (higher tree shots) and a few other changes are being made to make it suitable for all grades.

Thats Good as i am B grade in Wafta lol

    Hope to see you there.

    suspect 9.30 start.

contact Steve Turner for detail smt@blueyonder.co.uk

    or SHEP on here

As far as i can remeber its off the A38 past Churchuill, think its in the grounds of some county manor place?

Will have to chase that up lol

I would agree, but i have twice now tried to have Wafta rules changed so you can elect to go up a grade, with no success!

Least I am not the only one as Chris Keyworth (bfta AA) is in B with me and Wafta A class is full of Aa shooters lol.

We dont want to go in Aa as Jack is there lol:D

Wafta is open to visiting shooters yes.

Why have you not got a Bfta card? Did you apply with the rest of greyhound or were you a late joining member?

If you come to Avon Hawks Sunday and Greyhound confirm your membershoip, i can allocate you a Bfta nuber and bring you a Bfta card on Sunday, £3.50 for the card and I think its £6 to shoot the Comp.

you will need to remnd me before sunday though.

    directions from Dave Gage

Best approach is to turn into Coombe Lodge Estate entrance off the A368. This is the approach road for Coombe Lodge and its dead straight for a hundred yards or so,and then there are two tracks breaking off to the right.Take the rightmost track and follow on down between the outbuildings until you arrive at an open gatewaythat gets you onto a narrow road, turn left onto the road and the entrance to the clubis just a few yards along to the right - there'sa drivewaythat takes you down the side of the buildings and then it opens into a car park. Do not park here - go right between the conifers and this will take you into another car park use this one.
The new ground is only 2.5miles from the old one. from the old ground entrance on the A368 travel west along the A368 toward Blagdon.Coombe Lodge is just before the village of Blagdon.

weather forcast is not great for the area, but as the shoot is in think pine tree / woodlad i am hoping that not much of the rain will penetrte its way to the firing line.

I am also hoping that some of the targets will be in a few extra yards if the 20+ mph winds do get through lol
Not much need for a host of mini kills if the wind is up !

Hope to see some new faces there, and no not the 70's pop group! Be nice to see a few swefta friends on a day out?

    Wind and Rain

Thanks to avon hawks for bravley putting on todays opening Wafta 2012 FT Series round.

Good balance to the course, enough shorter ones so most could hit something now and again. Tough course though.
Wind had a large hand in that plus the rain eventuall forced it way through the trees so keeping dry was as much of a challenge as the shooting lol

First part of the course in thick pines was not too bad while the second open part was a bit trickier to read. Standers were long, perhaps a few yards shorter for one in each lane to balance up and make give soome a better chance at getting one.

As ever, arms dealer was top company to shoot with today. Not seem him go a turn out for ages but it was funny as it was" miss the plate no 2" shot of the day! wont mention the 42 yard stander lol:D

Good shooting though and a cracking 42 yard neeling shot;)

Hopefulyl We (Wafta) can get out grading rules sorted out soon as it was obvious to all there today things are not right

Big thanks to all involved in putting on a really good shoot today. Just hope my gear dries out in time for the NEFTA! I agree Simon, grading is a real issue that needs sorting ASAP.

And after today you are officially the biggest ringer, amongst other things, in WAFTA. :D

Thanks to everyone who came over to avon hawks today :) The weather was crap but the surrounding wood does seem to cut down that wind......didnt stop the rain though some of you guys were soaked!!
Score cards were wet and almost unreadable.....have to find some paper/card that doesnt turn to mush when wet

None of our members shot today first time ever thats happend in 13-14 years ive been there :(
I wont be shooting again untill the grading is sorted its been messed up for far too long
