    W A R Boxing Day Fun Shoot & Prize Giving 2012

35 hardy souls gathered at Cob House s Mayfly Restaurant for a breakfast & club prize giving before heading off to the woods for a fun shoot , held in accordance with UK SARC rules .

Johnny Smith handed out the Claret Cup to the years winner , Tom Morgans , and the miniatures to class winners.
He also handed out some very nice Glass Beer Tankards, to various helpers, in appreciation for their voluntary work during the year , making it a great fun place to shoot .
A very good breakfast was enjoyed, thanks Mayfly !

Then every one drove up to the emergency grounds, where we set out a quick course on Saturday.
The shoot was fun , lots of laughter as we all dinked our way around the course , struggling to read range , wind & the shakes .... “ Wot ? No Peg ? “ .......

Final scores were tallied up , a fantastic lucky draw was held , almost every one took home a little some thing, thanks to all who made very generous donations .

Top score of the day went to Chris Coombes, followed by Tony Male . Very good shooting !

It was very enjoyable shooting with you today Gerry & Chris, thanks to Johnny and all the helpers who made a super human effort to make sure the shoot went ahead.

Well done to Johnny, Gerry and the WAR Boys for setting out a great course, tiny kills, craftily placed targets, hardly any plate, gusting blustery swirly wind!!! Great fun, me and me mates properly enjoyed ourselves! Young lad shooting with us called Jordon shot a creditable score of 31, not bad at all when the only shooting you have ever done afore is on ya Xbox! All of us are really looking forward to the 2013 UKSARC series not to mention regular jaunts to WAR next year! Some tremendous shooting by top scorers Tony Male 51 and Ian Treadwell 48, and Chris Coombes 52 especially considering the way the wind was blowin!!!

    Great fun :)

    Thank you Johnny

I would just like to echo Gerry's words and thank Johnny for the personalised, engraved glass tankards he very generously awarded. Very much appreciated :D

Also a big thanks to everyone who turned out today and made the shoot lots of fun, especially my two shoot partners JH and JP.

Top shooting today Chris, especially as you haven't shot this format before, hopefully we'll see you next year :shot:

What a great time we had today! A course that could genuinely be called 'tricksy', some targets direct from Mordor and a brilliant challenge I totally failed to meet. Well done Johnny, another great course. Thanks to Tom and Mark for being great company, and well done to Mark who outshot the pair of us on his first time out.

A couple of years ago, the club was new and there weren't too many people there. Now it's always busy, and a lot of firm friendships have been forged. Well done Johnny Smith.

I have to agree with you Martin , Johnny has elevated air rifle shooting in this area hasn't he ?

Well done Johnny , you are one of the best mate !

Thanks too , to all the members who come along and shoot .

A great bunch of guys, all friendly , willing and able to lend a hand & get stuck in .

A successful mix all round .

Another point to bring up , I am so pleased all the older experienced guys are so willing to coach & help the newer guys .

The general improvement all round is also good to see .

Especially these days where so many young guys only ever see guns on video games , the skill at arms has been lost.
So when they venture out into our club lanes, it can be a disappointment when every thing doesn't fall over .

But your gentle coaching has kept every one coming back, and all getting better .

I think the next year will see even more fun , and better competition !!!

Thanks to Johnny for setting out the courses and all the other peeps that make it happen :shot:

    That will be excellent .

Johnny intends to hold a monthly SARC comp this year.

Just a squeeze to get dates together, nothing serious , just a good old club shoot - according to SARC rules .

    " Wot ? No Peg ? "
