Due to the low attendances over the previous two years it appears that the UKAHFT pistol series isn't really taking off as we'd hoped, there are also a few of last years regular shooters dropping out for this year so we are wondering whether or not its worth running the series in 2011.

If we didn't run the series it would allow some clubs the space & time to run a side shoot like last years Quarry Long range which proved amazingly popular.

It would be helpful if only people who have shot the event before voted in the NO column as it helps us to see who isn't doing the series this year but I can easily check against previous years entry lists anyway

I'll leave this poll up until Sunday & then we'll make a decision

For Purely selfish reasons I voted no, as shooting pistols hurts me so I'd rather do a side shoot - nothing stopping that being pistol based, IPAS or similar.

You voted no when you don't do the pistol anyway then you say you want to do a side shoot that could be pistol based  I've told you about the effects of taking too many pain killers :D

Don't worry, either way Sparky is putting on a Long Range side shoot for the TreeTops round :D

    Long range

    Pete,

I like the sound of that fella...

What about a long range where the score can be higher for taking the shot standing or kneeling??

For instance 3 points for hittin it standing, 2 points for kneeling and 1 point for prone??

    Just wondering thats all Pete......

    Hi Berty,

Not up to me, sideshoots are solely down to the hosting club

Shhh Berty.......that's the plan for the UKAHFT round at Emley. We've even got a side shoot trophy lined up. We were thinking of using a proper bell target placed at 35 yards. 10 shots, 5 points per hit for standing, 3 for kneeling and one for sitting/prone.

I've voted yes Pete. I enjoy the pistol side shoots but always forget to bring the flippin' pistol.

I sold my pistol as I couldnt use it without hurting myself. You've not put a caveat on the poll that you must have shot within the last year so I voted.:p:D

I'd prefer a silly side shoot - Long range, speed/gamble shoot and if a club wants to do a pistol based one there's no problems putting one out, I wouldn't do it but that shouldn't stop someone else doing so.

Glad that's cleared up I'm off for more pain killers!:D;)

Hi Pete, you better put Shaun Eustace name down as well.

    Thanks Darren.

    Missed it's
If its still on, then i've got a probable buyer for a pistol,
If its not, it'll sit in the cupboard til god knows when.

If the above is a bit ambiguous, then , yes, I'd like to shoot pistol hft, or similar

so is there going to be a pistol course at treetops ? also is there going to be any pistol comps this year ? if theres going to be no pistol comps il be selling my pistol so it would be very handy to know :(

hopefully if the pistol comps are going to stop , the clubs will put on decent rifle side shoots or silhouettes or its gona be a long boring day after 1st session finishes or for the people waiting for 2nd session to start

Due to the low level of interest we have decided to cancel the 2011 UKAHFT pistol series, we had hoped that after a slow start this event would prove popular but there just isn't enough interest to warrant running a full series. We only had 8 shooters last year shooting at least the 5 counting rounds & only 7 the year before.

It is a shame bu the thing is it can be a lot more effort for clubs to set out for so few, if we were getting 20 + then would be worth it, but it's hard enough for hosting clubs to do the course and everything else involed in a National shoot.
But would be good if all clubs did a sideshoot as there would be loads having a go hopefully, Treetops will have a 70 yard long range one like we did at quarry, but don't forget 12 mag max for that;)
