Due to the extreme weather we have had, Johnny will be inspecting the ground at lunchtime for safety etc and if he feels the need to cancel he will have our full support and it's the sensible thing to do.

As soon as i know more will post.

Just spoke to Johnny and the shoot is cancelled, he will post in a day or so with new date.

Johnny asked me to send hi apologies but there is no need as he only has the shooters interests for safety.

Very sad, however, thanks to Jonny for making the hard decision and putting our safty first :)

I look forward to the reworked date.

The parking area is a quagmire and the track over the hill is a sloshy boggy river at the moment .

The weather is beyond our control .

I was really looking forward to this so yes I'm disappointed but fully understand Johnny's decision if it's that bad. Oh well looks like a lay in then up to the club on Sunday instead.
See you all at Rivi for the national ;)

    New date.

Totally agree that if the ground was unsuitable to hold the event for whatever reasons it was postponed.
I hope the new date is not the 5th August as the 4 counties was moved from 15th July to the 5th August to accommodate the English open and this will hit 4 clubs.

Spoke to Johnny last night and the new date will be the 12th August, he will do a new thread soon.

So 2 weeks of UKAHFT official comps on the bounce, English 12th & Welsh on the 19th.

Thank you all for your support, yesterday was a tough call but after last night s rain on top of what we had already and after talking to Pete Sparks I am convinced it was the right decision. As most of you know W.A.R. is situated on a hill so a certain amount of walking up and down hill is involved. The course would have be set out shooting from a 12ft grass path in a horse shoe shape which would of turned very quickly into a mud bath after 10 to 20 people had walked over it making it very slippery and dangerous. In some parts water was bubbling up out of the ground and running down the grass path like a river, I have never seen anything like this in July before, the ground was in better condition back in the winter. Ian Sheppard and I went up there this morning to put a plan B together ready for 12th August just in case the weather does not get any better, it was just too wet, it would have very quickly resembled the Somme and we would have been no further forward. Safety and the welfare of my fellow shooters was my main concern so it was not only the right call it was the only call Pete and I could make yesterday. Sorry for any inconvenience and hope to see you all on the 12th August.
