Dear all just to let you all know we are still alive.

The accomodation is ok at the Venice Hilton , breakfast is edible although they did run out of champagne much to Jono " BFTA Chairman" Noon's discgrace.
We are struggling at times to eat more than four plate fulls but Calp's managed six !

The Hilton speed boat taxi is a tad bumpy when going at speed to , think Mr P has complained about this so hopefully we should get a refund.

Had the chore of spending today in the roof top endless edge pool, towels were a bit rough & my robe & slippers a bit big , think i may complain.

Just about to go for another evening meal in the Hilton resturant ( just been out and bought a 42" waist to travel home in was 34" ).

Fingers crossed we will all make it through to the bitter end !

See you all at Euro's ( Premier Inn Cannock South ) or for Showdown ( Travel Lodge Cheiveley).

    Regards

Team Turnip's on Tour ( Stranded Division)

I feel for you Boys, write to you Mp and complain when, "if" you get back.

Dont forget the italians will sting you 40 euro to carry the gun to the plane when you do make it.

ps. How does yellow pepper pizza compare to the hilton food?

My thoughts are with you lads.

Im glad and pleased to hear that you lads are managing to keep your chin up under all the pressure and worry you must be under.

If theres any issue with starvation etc then im sure we will pool together this end and pay for a cargo plane to drop off a crate of emergency supplies for you all (with Calps eating them out, they might need it).

Fingers crossed to see you all at the Euro's,hoping you lads will be able to get into your sitting position without being sick.....

Operation Stranded / Turnip Update 09/09/11

Jono, Ozzy & Mr P should be on their way back.

The rest of us are still stuck here in this 5 star Hilton hell hole, morall has dipped to 99.9% & the pop star lifestyle / mingling with celebrity's is wearing a bit thin to be honest.

Had to turn the jacuzzi in my room into a washing machine with the aid of some free shampoo to give my under crackers a quick wizz round.

    Fly back tomorrow fingers crossed.

One question .............................. why 40 Eruo extra for gun transportation ???

    Best regards

Turnip Team Leader ( Operation Stranded )

It's apparently for the police escort. Amidst raised eyebrows and kicked ankles from H who seemingly detected another possible Efta Sec tantrum approaching, I did ask if two guns would get two escorts... and was told they would! However, watching them being loaded on the plane I must assume they were plain clothes and disguised as normal airport baggage handlers...

    No idea really Scott.

Don Old went into the police office 1st, not having made it through the ticket line que and they (police) told him dont pay it, its a rip off.
However, half our party of 129 (ish) had already coughed up the 40 so the rest of us paid. Not worth the hassle of getting to gatwick to be told your gun was not carried for 40?

Think we could have got away with it, but not worth the risk.

Tosh was last in the que to pay. The really slow girl on the ticket desk departed and another one took over. However, she wanted 70 euro. Peter told her no way and eventhually got the price down to 30 euro!!

They wanted cash too, not credit card. Suspect it was for a pocket.
However, Kilty paid on tuesday by credit card, insisting he had no euro, which he did. They were not happy about that, but it all stunk and i dont think the money was for anything else bar someones pocket
All i can say is have 40 euro spare and try to barter it down?

I am getting Easyjet to look into it, because they said all taxes and charges are included in the flight... but don't swamp them just yet because they think it's only Verona (and not Marco Polo) that do this, and if I get my money back it will enable everyone else to. But if they realise there are at least 30 others, they may not... Get a receipt.
