I was at Derek Peckover from Nockover a few months back and spied some 1/10 scale knockover targets, that worked. Apparently he used to make a set. I've asked him if he would consider another, but no joy, he says they were way more work than he could charge for.

I've posted about them before, but I wonder, what other special shooting things have been around since the 80's that you could no longer buy, will never likely be made again, and you'd probably have to chase an ambulance to get a sniff of again?

Obviously there's the venom gear, and the Airmasters (John Welham?) Stocks...

I used to have a Kassnar 3-9x40wa Etched reticule pa adjustable scope. I saw one go for £50 a few years back (which is what i paid for mine 2nd hand in the '80s...) never seen one since. Wonder if it's as good as i remember... the jap scopes back then were very good.

My little Leupold 3-9x33 EFR. It's a custom job that I seriously doubt could be replicated now. It bears the simple legend "Air Rifle" engraved on the objective ring. I've been told was a one off special by Leupold. On top of that it also has a Premier Reticles custom (true at 9x) USMC Mil-dot reticle. I dare say that you could get the Leup custom shop to do the engraving but there's no chance of getting the reticle any longer.

Interesting, he told me that they weren't doing custom work for anyone on any scope (particularly Leupolds!;)) due to the imminent arrival of their own scope brand.

I still have a Mede fox target and once had one of their little rat targets as part of the Highwood FAWC collection. The fox stands quite high and has a 50mm kill - goes down with a right old clang. It needed a fair few stakes to keep it anchored and, if you didn't set it out dead vertical, your chances of knocking it down were pretty slim. Once Derek's targets took hold of the market, the Medes faded away but they were certainly solid pieces of work, unlike our Abbey "fieldskill" targets, which fell apart at the welds after a brief period of use.
