    I spoke to a few people about this over the weekend and reckon we could get quite a good tour party together. Here's a link to what Air Malta require for takin guns onboard, hopefully we can get a few tips from Wayne about how he got over here for the Worlds.

    This is the original thread with the dates on, personally I reckon January will be the best bet.

    Names so far;

    Ryan Charlton
    Chris Cundy
    Greg Hensman Jr & Sr
    Andy Wilkinson
    Laity & Net - Maybe

    Once we have an idea of numbers we'll have to find somewhere to stay thats happy for us to have the airguns with us, or even better somewhere secure to store them.:) Can we use this thread to share all the ideas and keep everything in once place.

    Ryan

    Had a chat with Wayne this morning. As soon as all the shooters coming over are confirmed we are going to need the following info of every shooter travelling with an airgun in his name. No European Firearms Passport needed:

    Passport Number
    Airgun Model
    Airgun Serial Number
    Date of Arrival and Departure
    Place of Stay
    Invitation by Local Club for Event (This will be issued by us)
    Police Escort at Airport (This will be arranged by us)

    We have also found a nice place to stay very close to our range about 10min by car. We still have to check the place out regarding availability and prices. We will also be enquiring on some other hotels.
    We have also added another date to the event. Saturday 8th January. This will be an Open event and not part of our Nationals to qualify for the Worlds. The 9th January shoot will be part of our Nationals and qualifiers for the Worlds. But both scoring points of both shoots will be added up to decide the winner of that weekends event. So more shooting for you guys coming over and hopefully we will get our usual force 6 January winds :D

    If anyone got any questions just reply on this post or send me a PM.

    Will keep you posted as soon as we get more info.

    Thats it for now.

    Kris

    Just looking quickly on a couple of airlines;

    Easyjet departing from Gatwick at 0730 on Friday 7th Jan it's coming out at £46.99, Departing at 12.20 on Monday 10th Jan is £21.99. We'd get to Malta at 11.40 on Friday and be home for 14.35 on Monday.

    Air Malta departing Manchester at 19.30 on Thursday 6th Jan is £78 and returning Monday 10th Jan at 15.30 is £29. Arrive 23.30 and return 18.10. There's also a red eye from Manchester on Friday which departs at 22.00 and arrives in Malta at 02.20 for £40.

    Air Malta from Birmingham - Depart 17.50 on Thursday 6th £36 - Return Moday 10th 14.30 £30. Arrive at 21.55 and return 17.00.

    I'm on my way home from work now so if anyone knows how much Easyjet or Air Malta charge for airguns please share with the group.:)

    I recall Wayne saying Easyjet charged him Euro100 for the airgun transport when he came over to Kelmarsh. I stand to be corrected though. I'll ask him to be sure and post back.

    Ok big mistake from my side here :eek:

    Asked Wayne to confirm how much Easyjet charged him for the airgun handling and it's Euro50 not 100. That should come to about £40 :)

    Found this in the Air Malta web site:

    http://www.airmalta.com/page_x.aspx?l=1&p=1672

    It seems that travelling with Air Malta, a passenger has to purchase a Sports Baggage voucher and firearms/airguns fall under this catagory. It's Euro15 each way making it Euro30 in total so it's cheaper than Easyjet. Maximum weight is 32kg and vouchers must be bought 24hrs prior to departure.

    If travelling with Air Malta it's best to notify them before hand that the Sports Baggage voucher is to be used to carry airguns as I don't know if a police officer is needed to escort the guns on the aircraft departing from the UK. All I know is that departing from Malta this definetaly has to be done, but that will be taken care of from our side.

    Louise & i are interested in this trip Ryan. You know our situation at the mo so will have to see how the year pans out first. Also if i could borrow a airport/Aeroplane valid gun case (X2)
    We have everything crossed. :)

    Looking good so far although there's plenty of room left. I'm hoping to get the flights booked sooner rather than later to try and get a good deal and all the paper work done and dusted with time to spare.
