Looking at the 3 different mk's of the Big Nikko, whats people experience of temp shift both in terms the amount clicks needed and changes in ranging please?

From chatting with a couple of lads over Winter League the opinions given are that MK3 seem to be affected more? From your experience is this accurate? Also how do the MK1's and MK2's fair please?

I have five Mk 3s and none of them are affected very much by temperature. :)

    My Sightron however is. :(

Mines a mk3 Simon and it's shifts up to 5 yards at 55 yards in the cold found this out at our first winter league shoot was going great guns but then started to get temp shift it was the first time I'd come across it so what I do now is leave it to come to outside temp and I bought an adjustable range pointer off Andras which I adjust on plinking range before I go to first lane to shoot do this every time now and it's working great.

My own experiences, rangefinding shift at 10 °C temp difference at 50 m:
    MK1: 0.5 m
    MK3: 2.5 m
    (S&B FT: 4.2 m)

Cheers Gents. Seem ranging is fairly widely required. Does anyone else see need for extra clicks? Scope set up at 7 or 8 degrees. Drop outside temp to -2 and am adding extra 8 clicks at zero and it increases to 18 or so clicks at 55 yards? I used same rifle through last winter league and didnt see this so on that basis am looking at scope rather than cold dropping ft lb on gun itself?

If you are shooting the very same target from the same position and the shots are going low or high then that's not the scope. But you have to make sure you're shooting at the same range, not just relying on the scope to tell you it's the same range.

I set my mk3 up a few years ago can't really remember what sort of day I set it up on??? But, In the winter below 12 °c I add on 2 yds, below about 4 °c I add on 3 yds.
    From 13 °c to about 21 °c it's on the button. Then after that I take away 1yd for 2 °c.
So by the time I get to about 30 °c which isn't very often in sunny Wales I am over ranging about 5 yds.

So if it's ranging 10yrds in winter at 4 degrees, the target is really at 15yrds?

So you will make at least one target on sunday 57 yards? Least of your worries given the 35mph winds forecast lol
