    Hi all,

Recently bought a second hand gun which came with a Tasco Custom Shop 8-40x56 scope. Unfortunately it is missing one of the turret covers and being a tidy soul I'd like to replace it. So far I've met with "no chance" but I'm hoping someone on the forum might have one tucked down the back of the workbench. (Tasco went out of business many years ago).

It also has a problem when you turn the zoom ring anti-clockwise, the reticle moves slightly. Not a huge issue as if you turn the zoom a little too far then come back to the point needed, the reticle returns to the vertical. I have tried a few of the specialist optic repairers and they tell me Tasco's cannot be repaired. But if anyone knows differently, please let me know.

    Thanks, Rob.

Might have one. Post a pic of your other one and I'll see.

    Turret pic

    Hi RobF,

Pic attached, turret cover is 27mm high by 24mm diameter.

    Any help appreciated.

I definitely have a turret cover if Rob can t sort you out.

If you remove the rubber covered screw on the zoom ring (you might be able to do this by gripping the rubber cap or you might have to ease this rubber cap off to get at the screw proper) and slide the zoom ring forward you will reveal some small screws which lock the ocular bell and the reticule cell. I suspect tightening these might fix the problem, it s certainly something you can do yourself with a small glasses-type screwdriver. It s so many years since I ve had a CS apart I can t remember the exact arrangement of screws; you might have to unlock the ocular bell and screw it out a few turns to expose the reticule cell screws, but I don t think so.

Then slide the zoom ring back into place and return the large zoom ring screw, ensuring it picks up with the hole in the brass carrier tube through the slot in the scope s outer body.

    Reticule issue

    Hi Simona,

Tried that and the 4 screws were loose but sadly did not solve the issue, thanks for the advice at least I know a bit more about my scope.

Will wait for Rob's response then may be back to offer you fabulous wealth for your turret cover:)

    Rob

Don;t want to hijack the thread, but as you are talking about the Custom Shop I wonder if you could throw any light on the problem I have with mine.
There appears to be what looks like dust on the lens, I have tried cleaning the outer lens but it appears to be inside. I have made enquiries about getting it repaired all to no avail, Would you know how to remedy this problem.
    Thanks.
    Gary.
