    a shot in the dark, here goes, we have this chrono and theres a red type of plastic film covering 2 banks of leds, does anyone now what this covering is and where can i get it

    I think the idea is to only allow infra red light through, we replaced ours with a full length sheet of optical grade red perspex running the whole length of the tube which works & also protects the sensors from any stray shots.

    Just took out the tube and it looks a bit like red acetate

    After a tip from KEV G the Rapid expert who also owns one, I replaced mine with clear packaging plastic and it works fine in any light, or darkness. I have calibrated it against other chronos and it has no detriment.

    Acetate sheet as Pete has mentioned will give more protection long term though.
