OK chaps and chapesses.
Here is the list of those who have qualified for the SWEFTA Showdown.
If your name is on the list and you know that you won't after all be taking part can you please let me know ASAP, or tell Lloyd Gray. There are reserves from each round able to take vacant spaces, but we need to give them notice to be there, or we'll have to have some byes in the first round.
In alphabetical order BTW.
Rich you have pm
Update on the situation.
There have been a few who have let me know they can't make it.
RobF is booked elsewhere and his place goes to Paul Salmon of South Devon
Keith Mainey can't make it and his place goes to Matt Williams also of South Devon
Lee Morrineau is double booked with an archery competition and his place goes to Trevor Bray of Shebbear.
Any others please let me know as soon as you can. There is a procedure for bringing in reserves but they need to know early enough that they have a place.
We've also decided to broaden the Plate competition a bit, so anyone from a SWEFTA club who turns up at Buckley Wood on the 4th of October hoping to find a vacant place in the Showdown will be guaranteed the chance to shoot in the Plate even if all the Showdown slots have been taken.
I've also heard on the busch trommel that Martin Pragnell might be on holiday at the time; if so, his place will go to Lloyd Gray.
"However, anyone turning up on the day who doesn't manage to secure a place in the Showdown first round will be able to enter the additional shoots that will be run on the other two courses at Buckley."
Further info just come in.............
There will be two comps as well as the showdown and the plate (limited entry)
35 shot Hunter course, shot to SWEFTA rules, open entry
15 shot Standing course, open entry
Pete James has let me know he can't make it. The next highest score at the event which Pete qualified from - and not since qualified - was recorded by Dean Marley of Shebbear.
hi rich, bit confused being my 1st season.
what is swefta showdown all about,is it just for the ft guys?
but anybody can enter the plate comp?
The showdown is a FT comp only. 32 people gain entry by qualifying. To qualify you have to be in the top four scores at each of the first eight league shoots. You only qualify once, so if you are in the top four at another shoot your name is passed over and the next highest score that hasn't yet qualified gets a place.
At the showdown the 32 entrants are put into 16 pairs, and each pair then shoot 20 targets. The person with the higher score goes through to the next round and the one who was beaten drops out. The winners carry on like that against a new person in every round shooting 20 targets until there are just two finalists left.
The 16 people who get knocked out at the first round then compete amongst themselves in a similar competition and the winner of that group wins the PLATE.
Every round is shot against the clock, they get one minute to shoot 2 targets starting from the moment the scope comes up to the eye.
A complete set of rules was agreed at the last AGM, nearly a year ago.
At our showdown on 4th October there will be other comps going on, I'm told that there will be a 35 shot Hunter course shot to the SWEFTA rules you are familiar with, and I've also been told there will be a 15 shot standing only course. You could enter both of them.
Have a look at the SWEFTA website:
Trevor Bray can't make it, as he will be on holiday.
His place is on offer to Graham Tucker. Waiting now to hear from Graham with acceptance of the slot. If any of Graham's club colleagues read this can you please prompt him for me?
Paul Salmon can't make it, he has to work.
His place goes to Ryan Potter of Buckley Wood
Ryan if you are reading this please get in touch.
Graham Tucker can't make it, neither can Tony Jones.
I'll be trawling for replacements soon.
Separate names with a comma.
