SWEFTA League 11 - Avon Hawks
Gilly runs away
A quick chat with Shep today and of course, shooters from other regions are welcome to this
I know quite a few taffies on tour are looking to attend
Be great to seem some drift south from Mfta, there is £20 going gilly if we can tempt you and the new toy town van south for a windy shoot
Win a golf Club ???
Forgot to point out there is a separate Hft style course too, think its 40 shot so plenty of shooting to be had.
See you sunday
Looking forward to this, see you all Sunday.
Yes, can confirm TWO seperate 40 shot courses, one FT and one HFT.
And if you ply Tony with enough wine gums he may divulge all the ranges... except Shep has probably changed them all today.
Looks like we're going to have a stonkin good turn out.
All target greased, checked, sprayed and both courses are looking tip-top in today's Autumn sunshine.
Weather forecast is very good for tomorrow, dry with sunny periods, NO rain and just a 5-8 mph wind which should be enough to keep you thinking about each target.
Good luck to SteveF and Awesime who will be fighting it out for the SWEFTA FT Champion title. Both have shot very well throughout the year, so I thought the last lane on FT should be "Standing", just in case they are still level up to that point. Either could take the title, so I guess, the nerves will then be well and truly kicking in at that stage .....
Food and hot drinks will be available
EVERYONE WELCOME, enjoy the courses and have a nice day.
Huge thanks in advance to Tony, Simon and Shep for the work you have put in, changing the FT course and reinstalling an HFT course.
I know we are in for a treat.
Also, good luck to Steve and Simon, a real down to the wire result. Could we see a course clearance? Or a 39? Only time will tell.
For any visitors:
The shooting club is within the grounds of a very large country estate house called COOMBE LODGE, Blagdon BS40 7RE.
The post code or Sat Nav Co-ordinates N51.329847 W -2.723735 degrees will take you to the main entrance driveway of Coombe Lodge estate.
Go up the main drive and signs will be out on the day from there to take you exactly into the wood where the shoot will be located.
Can you confirm start time and time of briefing? Apologies if I have missed it within the thread.
Zero range open from about 08:15 with shoot briefing at 08:45 and main course shooting from 09:00.
I would just like to say a BIG well done to all the Avon Hawkes crew for putting out an awesome course
Great to catch up with some old friends to
It was a fine day at Avon Hawks today,as always a fine course and I don't think there were any stoppages, big thanks to all those that put the hard work in.
Good to see the Welsh boys as always, good shooting fron Simon Evens & Jack Harris on your 39s.
Daz, it was absolutely brilliant to see you today.
Avon Hawks, what an outstanding shoot.
I hope the Welsh guys enjoyed themselves and well done to Simon and Jack for their scores and to Steve Franklin for securing the SWEFTA Championship.
And the weather..... incredible.
This was the last SWEFTA League shoot today and the SWEFTA 2015 Champion would be decided between Simon Evans and Steve Franklin. Both shooters have shot really well throughout the year and both have put in some top class scores.
With 8 out of a total of 11 league scores to count for the SWEFTA Championship, it really was too close to call.
Steve already had 8 scores in the bag giving him a total before today’s shoot of 769.24 points, but he was hoping to drop a low score of 86.49 and hopefully replace it with something a little higher today.
Where-as Simon needed one more score to complete his eight and his current point tally was 678.44.
So it was all down to this last shoot. I have done the calculations, and I believe it basically comes down to just one target needed to separate them!
If Simon beats Steve by TWO targets or more then he takes the title but if Steve beats him or can stay with 1 target of Simon's score today, then he will be the champion.
How close is that after a full seasons shooting!!
The top scores today:-
Simon Evans 39 = 100%
Steve Franklin 38 = 97.43%
So if my calculations are correct and it’s purely UNOFFICIAL at this stage:-
Steve 769.24 (-86.49) + 97.43 = 780.18 Total points
Simon 678.44 + 100 = 778.44
What a close contest, well done to both EXCELLENT SHOOTING and it is only 1.74% that seperates them.
The official results will be posted ASAP, once the competition secretary has checked them!
The other top score today were
Jack Harris 39 (visitor)
Richard Beaugie 37
