At the worlds on Sunday I was watching Kieran Turner in the shoot off and was amazed at how steadey he was in the kneeling position.

So my question is this, do you always use the support for supported kneelers or could you be more stable by ignoring it?

It depends; If I can get steadier using it or not, take the Hay Bale supported kneeler on the lakes, I found that using a reverse kneeling position (high leg to rear) that I was rock steady almost vice like, which I suppose if I was not using it then I would of been nowhere near as steady, but then again Kieran is one of the best kneelers in the game IMHO!
I have chosen in the past to just place my foot against the support (big tree trunks get me) because I could not find a secure position using it!

Gary I would say that kneeling is my strongest shooting position but sometimes using the available support
is actually a hindrance , In my opinion people will use the support believing its easier but it will sometimes take you out of your natural shooting position ie : leaning into a tree for support and not 'readjusting' can lead to all sorts of problems .

Really depends on the support, some of the shoots up here have an unusual idea of what a support actually is!

Usually without unless the support is very comfortable and steady.

Most of the time I use the support but it does depend what it is, some can make you wobble more than taking the shot unsupported.

Nothing, and I mean absolutely nothing, can make me wobble more than an unsupported kneeler, no matter how bad the support is! If there were competitions for the most unsteady kneeler, I reckon I would would win the majority of them.

    on my knees !!!!

As an Essex girl i spend a lot of time kneeling :D !!! so i am probably just as steady free kneeling as supported in fact i probably have missed more supported kneelers than free ones. Sometimes they can give you a false confidence and put you out of your comfort zone
