So what would you expect to get from an LG 110, with a silver transfer port, and something along the lines of JSB Exacts 8.4gr?

I've just chrono'ed one of my Steyr HPs to find that it won't go above 10.8ft/lb. Is that what you'd expect?

    Cheers,

    Cam.

Sorry, I meant to say what would you expect ft/lb wise?

Is 10.8ft/lb par for the course?

    Cheers,

    Cam.

Had mine running at 11.4....but Harry Preston set it up at that...low shots per charge though... around 55/60 per charge.I put the black one back in...now about 85/90.

Ideally I'd like to be able to get to 11.2ft/lbs.

At that, I reckon the rifle would still be competitive at HFT shoots, whilst still being safely within the legal limit...

When I had my silver one in I still got 11.4, just the shot count wasn't as good.

I'm wondering if 10.8 in the freezing cold will translate to 11.4 in the sunshine?

If you have a Silver port in good condition the hole can always be drilled out rather than replacing it with a Black port

I have 2 HP hunters, one out of the box was difficult to get a pellet under 12fpe, it also didn't manage a full HFT course without a refill. The other was running about 11.8fpe but it wouldn't complete a 30 shot course either, it was better but not great. Both transfer ports were drilled out, power reset and now comfortably complete a course. The power was set to around 11.2fpe by me I am very happy at that power level and the guns are running very sweetly.

I did a little trial on the 2mm silver transfer port for Steyr a while back.
    A simple swap from using my black transfer port to the silver one revealed the following;
    black port - 777ft/sec 8.4grn
    silver port - 573 ft/sec 8.4grn

No adjustment was made to hammer so effectively they are much less efficient:( thas why the shots per charge are much lower;)

I am thinking of buying a new hunter which i guess would come with the silver transfer port , is it just a matter of swapping over to the black one or drilling out the silver one with no other mods internally ??
    Thanks
    Don ..

Don't drill out...the hole is were you put an allan key in to tighten the port in (it's made out of a soft alloy)

The silver one can easily be drilled out in a lathe to match the original black on as the transfer port on the black one is smaller than the allen key hole.

As Pete says the Silver port is very easy to drill out.
I was under the impression that the Silver port was 3mm. I opened mine out to 3.5mm. The Black port is 4mm.

All holes are smaller than the allen key location.
