    Hi All

Long time not speak I know - what can I say, its been an interesting couple of years !!

Right, on with the business at hand - I am looking for a rifle, primarily for benchrest but also so I can have a little play at FT again when time and work permits. I wanted to know what was the general state of affairs regarding the reliability of the two above rifles - I know there were a variety of reg issues with both guns, but wondered if these had been sorted? I know the Ev2 already has some following in the benchrest world, and they tend to come up cheaper secondhand vs. the steyrs, but for personal reasons I am leaning more towards the steyr:)

Opinions welcome - and if you have second hand one, even better :)

For sheer one hole drilling off a bench indoors there is little out there to touch a Steyr using JSB Express. For FT it's down to preference, I hate the trigger and loading probe of the EV (fat thumbs) but that's personal opinion. Try before you buy

Got a friend who just sold a steryr and now got 2x EV's.
I've had my EV mk1 for 7 years now and wouldn't use anything else for FT. But then again I've never shot a steyr so cant really compare.
Did hear they were extremely temperature sencetive but think that might have been some years ago now.
I think nowadays there isn't that much difference in performance when your taking top end pneumatics,my S4110 was on a par with my EV if not slightly better.
They will always outshoot the user so its just down to personal choice, whatever you decide upon, just enjoy what you do. Its just one big game. :p

    Good to hear from you.

On the bench rest front, at Dowry Hill, the bench rest aficionados all swear by the EV2 and some excellent results are obtained. On the FT front, there are a lot of EV2`s being used so that says something. If your looking to kill two disciplines with one gun, my guess would be that the EV2 is worth looking at.

    Regards

PS. Does this mean your leaving the pistol scene.

    Hi
I have both & don't think there is much between them performance wise, but I do prefer the balance of the Ev when mounted with a big Ft scope over the Steyr.
    Try both if you can.
The 2011Uk benchrest champ uses a Steyr.

    Regards Jon
