Our weekend league shoot started off very cold jackets on jackets cold. Well my 100 where the butt end enters the steel body of the rifle came apart twice. Now the fitting together we reckoned the cold slightly shrunk both the take down lever and the shaft itself. And my thumb up position didn't help touching the lever. As the morning got considerably warmer the area was tight as a drum only come apart using the lever.
So as not to get that happen again, because I felt a numpty with two pieces of a rifle in my hands. So I drilled a 55C4B9ED-2D8F-4F4C-A8FC-74ABE0231557.jpeg 3.2mm hole with the butt set in and a hole through the case metal and then continued to make small indentation on the main metal of the butt. Tapped the body m4 and using pointed m4 grub screw that settled into the indentation made earlier on the butt metal. Job done, now to take down undo grub screw and off she comes with the lever.

It's always strange the things going through your mind about our sport. For weeks I have tested every thing you can put on a barrel to improve accuracy.
Then I though well I know the barrel is good the older barley twist Steyr barrel. Groups were better without all my gizmos I have. In the shed there was a pack of sticky back lead strips that's used to bias your golf clubs. So I put three on the end of the barrel and I'm over the moon with the results. Was it coincidence or was my shooting steadier that time?
    Have another go tomorrow. 9B615CD1-262D-4C94-85C6-649CF605D95F.jpeg

Not only ingenious, but the modification also has an aesthetic that I don't think has been truly before exploited by designers of other strippers and moderators etc.....:D

I think Calps might be interested in this as it would co ordinate nicely with his duct tape covered fairy liquid bottle scope sunshade.
