...Amazing what one finds trawling through forums worldwide and ''For Sale" sections ( in my quest for adding airguns to my collection, which I hang on the wall ;) )

Looks Ginb, but doubt it as Ive never seen a Ginb laminate, and emailed Andrea for confirmation. Am contacting who I think is the Italian stockmaker... and will revert on pricing.

Methinks a blank of that laminate actually would be perfect for a NEW Walther laminate :D :D :D - Darth Vader style.

    :D

There are some out there Jason.
That laminate looks a bit iffy maybe beech ply, fairly sure its from Europe and not the proper waterproof birch ply. Remember what happened to the early Steyrs, they split open.

Surprised if its Ginb, not usually that good. Theres a few errors which i wont point out, all the same decent stock. Polands my guess.

It's a Varide Cicognani and it's not beech ply it's a top quality laminate.

    Here is a similar http://www.varidecicognani.com/2009/scheda.asp?idp=3&idsp=114&ids=454

TOTALLY AGREE...problem is sourcing this actual colour combo laminate on its own...I trawled all the main US suppliers of laminates and havent come across this colour combo ...yet :(

BUT on the upside, Walther were pukka in sending me some spare alu Logo plaques for a James Mitchell laminate project ! Top People Walther Germany :D:D:D:D:D "Zehr Gut !"

Looks nice. In fact do I detect a resemblance to the stocks on Daystate Platinums?

    Rob,

Per the pic, is that the colour you are trying to source ? ie: "PEPPER"- black/black ? (actually its a shade of grey..)

    Have ordered from:

    http://www.boydsgunstocks.com/Walnut-and-Laminate-Hardwood-Gunstock-Blanks-s/79.htm

    Boyds' Gunstock Industries, Inc.
    25376 403 rd Ave.
    Mitchell, SD 57301
    Phone: 605-996-5011
    Fax: 605-996-9878
    Email: customers@boydsgunstocks.com

BUT, you must create an account first, and simply order online with your Visa/Master card....per order- only 2 blanks maximum (probably something to do with US or Uk customs & freight charge)...so have placed 3 orders :D

    Price: USD$39.99 Per Blank X 2 colours + USD$107.25 Shipping to UK = USD$187.23 (GBP122) + UK Custom charge GBP30 = GBP152

    Price Per blank: GBP76 quid...

Will pick up at NSRA gunshop this weekend and post photos in direct sunlight.

There's a guy in UK who sell those but they are more expensive.

For those with less skills or tools a good laminate e very difficult to work.

Can you tell me where do you find that Cicognani stock for sell?

    Thanks,

My friend, I havent got a reply from them yet...but It seems the stock is Euro800 according to Google translator ???:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Second option, is to have them reveal the source & manufacturer of the laminate...or failing that,

3rd option - to sell me a blank..... to have crafted by James Mitchell of South Africa :D

ta for that... seen that one before... however the black grey is closer to the original walther wood, rather than the clean grey black that's in the original pic...

Jason, this where I got my laminate blank from

    http://www.cwp.fi/pdf/CWPStandardLaminatesforHunting.pdf

I was over in Finland and went and picked it up. I made an HW80 stock with it, VERY hard work as laminates are a nightmare to work without commercial tools. It never really shot right (springers are SOOO fussy!) so it is retired hurt at the moment.

I also made a cheekpiece and palm shelf for my Steyr, much easier, I didn't bother with the pistol grip as the Steyr one felt fine and they are quite hard to get right.

    I am not a woodworker, just a hobbyist:D

Can't you get Gary Cane to make you one like the one in the pic? Or Paul Wilson? Steve Lannyman? They are all top blokes:)

    Nice laminate

Now personally, I think that would look damn good on an all black ev2?

Might have to look into that.

I dont think its the same laminate that Jason is looking at though, the colour is different?

    Laminate

    Rogb,

The laminate in the thread you added is similar to the first pics in this thread.

If you dont mind me asking how much did you pay for the blank when you were out there?

I do like the look of that laminate...

Boydsgunstocks buy from this company http://www.rutply.com/

May find laminate cheaper here as cutting out middle man.

it's that grey/black that's doing it for me in the first post... perhaps if there's a few of us, we can put a bulk order in?
