    More out of curiousity than anything the thread asking about pellet scales made me wonder who weighs and who doesn't? Its another of those airgunning oddities that often divides opinion between people, do FT shooters weigh pellets more than HFT shooters?, do HFT shooters not give a monkies when it comes to pellet prep?

    Jsb Express, does what it says on the tin!

    Dont weigh with Jsb Express as weight in the 2 tins i did weigh, were on the whole 7.8 or 7.9.

    On average, 7.6 = 6
    7.7 = 25
    7.8 & 7.9 = 460+
    8.0 = 2

    Exacts were very poor in comparrison, would be lucky to get 150 @ 8.4g from a tin!

    Why did i think of you Si:D

    Got plenty sleeves of Exacts here. Just one sleeve alone got 700 within +/- 0.2gr, in that 4 different sizes, the other 4300 anything from 7.2 to 8.8gr.

    Depends on the batch current ones i dont bother just have to size.

    I am sad

    Yes I do weigh my pellets as it was something else to do over the Winter rather than watch all the rubbish that was one. I am not a fussy weigher but just want to weed out those pellets that are a bit wild weight.

    Its more for a sanity check I use 8.4 +/-0.1gr as my limits, some nice classical music playing and a nice pint of ale and the evening just sails past. Average about 100 pellets per tin outside that range which I use in the clubs pistol for 20m+ shooting at paper targets.

    I think sizing is more beneficial than weighing too Jon.

    Weighing

    Sadly lads and Steve Page heehee,

    I do weigh my pellets as I feel it is beneficial with the exacts.

    I batch mine such as 8.3, 8.4, 8.5 and so. I feel it just gives me piece of mind at the end of the day...

    Batch mine too, 0.55gms are for comps then split into heavy and light for everything else!

    Wash and lube too. On paper there is a difference and i need all the help I can get.

    That is until Vinnie gets the pumping this weekend!

    It has to be the most boring job in the world...ever!! I hate it, but i think it has to be done. its nice to know that you may have taken another variable out of the equation, also good for the Chrono.

    I couldn't agree more.
    Get yourself comfortable, put the radio on and get weighing. It takes about 1hr per tin!
    And if you don't weigh your pellets, then borrow some proper scales, weigh out 50 or so and shoot the lightest and the heaviest in two groups at 55 yards! Then you'll change your mind.;)

    I tried weighing them, sizing them & lubing them, still doesn't change the fact that all of my 59 ex 60's have come using JSB straight from the tin.. I gave it up after about 2 tins worth as I saw no improvement in my scores, if I were paper punching then yes, I could maybe see the point.

    I dont normally weigh pellits but seeing this thread reminded me Chris C lent me his scales so.......

    Weighed about 350-ish, got about 200 ready for HFT worlds, 7.82 to 7.87 grain. Lowest was about 7.74 and the highest about 8.01. The vast majority of "low" weights were around 7.80 and "high" weights were around 7.91.

    I put those that didnt fall between 7.82 and 7.87 in a tin for testing at a later date, allthough the groups size will (should) be how they are normaly straight out of tin, which with JSB EXPRESS i find are good enough groups (for me anyway :)) which is why i dont normaly weigh pellits.

    I would certainly need my own scales if i started to weigh them since doing more then needed for a comp is too much tedium for me so i would have to do small amounts, just enough for comp+, afew days before each comp.

    Me thinking this may become a regular thing for me though :)

    I weigh my pellets for a main comp like the nationals or the worlds, However, for a club comp I really cant be bothered.

    Although, I am starting to think that I probably should do it all the time, my last tin of pellets had ones as light as 7.98gr and as heavy as 8.9. I think that would make a difference to impact points at 45 yards.:D:D
