Sightron 45x target scope

    I have the sightron 36x42 scope and find the image duller than my fox firearms 8-32x50 on highest mag. This may be due to slightly less mag and larger lens but still don’t think the optics are as good. Used to use for FT the leupold 6.5-20 x40 efr scope and remember the image being very clear. Would like to get my hands on one again but very unlikely.

    It's due to the size of the objective.

    The 42mm has 13.85 cm2 area.

    The 50mm has 19.63 cm2 area.

    The smaller objective scope carries 30% less light than the larger one.


    If you work out the area of a 40mm scope, a 56mm scope has pretty much twice the area.
