been using white electrical tape for marking up my sidewheels, but it seems to get a bit grubby, and the edges start to lift. Is there a better alternative?

I've been using printed marks on Brother label tape and it's been lasting for almost 3 years now without showings signs of letting go. I did my original markings on masking tape athen measured it and drew a label strip in CAD. This I then printed 1:1 scale onto the Brother lable using the Brother P-touch machine as a printer. works just great for me.

Marked mine up by using double sided sellotape and marking the ranges on the side to peel off marked a reference point at the start. Then measured these and rinted them out on to some paper.

Then cut this slightly narrower than the wheel and then put it on the sticky side. Then put another piece of single sided sellotape over it making sure the edges are well stuck.

I Used the white P touch tape and once I'd got it marked up covered it with the clear tape wound on in the opposite direction to the white tape .

You right Jon, but I had the time, so did it anyway. A lot I added in afterwards with CAD.:)

The plastic labelling tape is ideal you can mark it up with a CD marker pen and if you want to clean it off nail varnish remover does a good job. I bought a labelling machine intending to do my marks and ended up using the tape only.:D

Over marked wheels and huge turret tops are part and parcel of FT.

If you are using normal selotape then try crystal clear selotape instead.

It works a treat and does not discolour with age.
