Hi all,I've been on before to try and gauge the interest for shooting racks. How does everyone feel about a one of shoot on a Saturday morning in Feb/march.
    Your feedback is most welcome

Hi Holly,I think it's a great way for ft/hft shooters to hone their standers.

Eyup clifford , hows the bugle practice going ???? Are you still on londons burning ?:D
With regards to the sillies comp i reckon at the time of year that you mention your gonna be struggling to get any amount of folk to travel some distance ... what with winter leagues , getting dark early , possible dodgy weather .... for me postal is the way to go & run one per month throughout the year .
If this was to happen i think us at anston would set one date per month as the sillies postal comp day & stick to it . then you wouldnt get clubs /individuals saying "we'll postpone it as its too windy " or similar excuses to gain an advantage .
I hope it takes off as i enjoy it & im sure everyone can gain some much need practice on the standers .
    See ya soon , mr c .

Some great points, let's put our ideas down and sort out some rules eg shoot to NEFTA classic rules as regards distance/times and equipment .Shooting on a fixed date,no practice on the same racks etc.
Can anyone else chip in with suggestions ?

    Afternoon Cliff,

Possible fixed dates could be based around regional winter leagues ? i.e. NEFTA , MEFTA ,CSFTA,WFTA etc or to nearest as dam it date ?

I think to keep things fair & square and to avoid any potential acts of cheating that shooting partners should be drawn out of a hat ? i.e when you sign in for the W/ L , you fill your name in on a silly's score card it then goes into a box , during the W/ L the silly's cards are drawn out in pairs , three's or four's whatever ? irrelevant really but it will avoid any accusations regarding score fixing ?

All cards or results to be recorded / emailed ( which might work better than postal ) at the end of days shooting ? & registered on a national leader board ? not sure on amount of rounds ? but it would be nice to have the prize giving at the Classic as it is sillouete based ?

Only potential problem i can see is the administration side of things , might not be a problem but it is another thing for someone to do ?

Only my thoughts & they mean bugger all at times.

    Cheers

    Scott,

Would it be possible for one of our data base experts to write a small program to record and sort the scores for you. If each club taking part was supplied with a copy of the program someone could record the scores on the clubs version and then email the results to you for merging into the main record.

I'm sure every club will have someone willing to take on the task of recording and forwarding the scores.

    o yes i see a plan

i think this can be run at club level and post to region rep to be vetted ??
then the rep forwards to whoever by the last day each month
this could help get numbers into clubs as well as regions can have a club based comp along side
for nelson id look to run on the 3rd wednesday night each month
if clubs dont have a set of sils we can lend ( in wales )
lets get some comps back into the clubs
simple rules practise all month on the night your first score counts 8 out of 12 scores to count for the year (for the shift boys & girls ) NEFTA to NEFTA also would it be 20 or 40 shots

Just for the clubs thinking of running this of an evening.

If all goes well it takes 14 mins to run one shooter through then 3 1/2 mins per shooter on top of that
Then the same again at the turn round so 10 entrants takes an hour give or take
This time could be reduced if a shooter and marker were prepared to immedeatly feed in after the rams?

For the scores the marshal running the comp should be able to sign them of

This all presumes you are running the comp to the rules used at the Classic

Aitch (the man with a stopwatch):D
