Has anyone shipped, or looked into shipping, a rifle to SA?

    Any info would be appreciated.

    Many Thanks.

I asked this question on the BBS a bit back and got a resounding NO.
Not unless someone is going out there and is willing to take it for you

Hi Dave i shot the worlds in South Africa last year and travelling with the gun is efforttless but one of the guys who i have shot with from South Africa say that posting any thing is a bit dodgy a lot of things going missing through their postal service.I would think you would be best to use someone like DHL but they recently quoted me £67 + VAT just to deliver a scope to germany hope this helps a bit regards steve.

    Dont post it !

Bite the bullet & DHL or any other courier door to door .

I have posted back loads of stuff , all sorts & only about 25 % has reached destination.

Sadly the postal system in SA is very corrupt .

All of it, Jon sent to me.

I usually get DHL to collect from Jon - don't trust the post - things get lost in the post.

DHL will NOT ship airrifles. Only a few dedicated couriers willing to ship airguns, and cost around GBP200 - GBP300 for a rifle....

dave dont know about sa but i had a bug*** of a job to send a whiscombe to usa. every carrier in uk UPS, PARCEL FORCE, every one that ship out of uk has a xray machine and directly they see anything that resembles a rifle back it comes. i had three returns before i gave up. ended up meeting a person from a us air base and the rifle went through to usa no probs at all.

I decided not to sell abroad. The risk/cost is not worth the aggro.
