They are "free" position so you could sit, kneel stand or go prone if the targets is visable?

    Normal rules apply

Could A kneeler be taken standing...or is the 'sitting' a 'free' position only?

Kneeling is kneeling - unless medically certified as unfit to do so
Standing is standing - unless medically certified as unfit to do so

Freestyle is most commonly sitting, but can be prone, kneeling or standing.

Sitting is the only free position , I was thinking along the line of a target at 10 yards 20 feet up a tree or bank in the seated puts a lot of weight on my lower back which is not so good. I would be better off taking it kneeling.:)

Just wondered if anone had a different view on a rececnt 'query' on this locally. If I remember correctly, in the distant past, if you didn't want to take a shot kneeling (or was unable) you could take it standing...which anyone would acknowledge as not having an advantage over kneeling...(unless you're known as that lump called Matt on STB.. :D)

I was always of the understanding that there are 3 positionals for FT Standing, Kneeling and Freestyle. Therefore freestyle meant that you could use any position. So if that is the case then you could shoot a freestyle lane standing.

Dave I take it you meen the fall forwards target 40 odd feet up a tree with the peg
    at the base.

Most shot it laying on their back using their head to touch the peg:D
and as the ground sloped down to the tree your head was lower than your feet

That man was pure evil:rolleyes: when it came to laying out a course :(

Thats the one - he used the target several times and I think it made an appearance at the Anglo one year :)

I haven't seen anyone take a target in FT prone for about 25 years.
Though I did see Holly hunker down for a prone shot once, only to realise he'd actually dropped his 'paund' coin... :D

Thanks Beryl , i will go and print it off so that i can make sure i have the facts about the disabled shooting positions. As you can imagine, i wouldn't be pleased to be beaten by someone swinging the lead.
