    The question ?

With the Worlds in Hungary only weeks away & everything all but sorted ish ;) do i remove my scope for travel purpose ???

I have a Peli 1750 which to be honest is pretty bomb proof , i've used it for 2 years the length of the country and it does the job .................... but never been abroad ie thrown about by a baggage handler

Spoken to a couple of people & some say take off others say leave on ???

Not really following the masses but is it safer in a Peli or in hand luggage ?

    Hi Scott

With a peli case you will have no problems travelling with the scope on. The only way it would get damaged is if something ran over it and then the gun would be destroyed aswell. They are also drop proof as per the US Marine testing procedure, check out youtube for destruction testing on these cases.

    Scope on

    Scott,

I used my 1720 peli case for South Africa. I left the scope on whilst travelling and had no issues whatsoever fella.

But it is upto yourself to be honest. Mine will be left on for Hungary....

    leave it on

Leave it on the Peli will protect it perfectly, that's what they are made for, just lock the case.

Hiya Scott, i was probably one of the ones you asked who said they took their scope off and put it in with their hand luggage, last year for S.A i did because it was the first time i had travelled abroad and i had two rifles in my case. None of the other four lads i flew with took their scopes off, but i had a borrowed case with no foam and two rifles in it! This time i have my own case and i'm copying Calp's idea of putting my gun and scope in my soft case and then that in the Peli, or in my case Storm case, sort of a Russian doll thing.:D

    Mine is staying on.

Mr Costello has QR mounts, which retain the zero, but aside from that, i reckon a peli will be fine.

I have kept mine on in the past and have also taken them off. For the future I will get myself a small Storm/Pelican case that can handle two scopes. One competition scope and one backup. This will be my carry-on. I dont trust airport staff with my scopes.

Keep it on scott, just hope it's still on at the other side!:D:eek: I take the sidewheel off though (it goes back on in exact same position):)

Pelicases are the best, I know of some Storms have busted at the corners. Cheap immitations crack and compress too much also.
