were do i start,, ok , i use adjustable mounts , set windage turret to centre and elevation also to centre, then put scope and mounts on rail, use a small spirit level on the top of the breech and one on top of the scope and make sure the rifle and scope are both level, i put up a plumb line and make sure the scope is level with the plumb line, right now for the hard bit, i set a target up at 10 yrds and commence firing a pellet and adjust the mounts until i get it as close as possible to my x on the paper , i then adjust the windage by max 4 clicks to get it spot on the x, i then put a verticle line on a target at 10 yrds and increase my top turret in yardage whilst firing a pellet every 5 yrds to check it is exactly on the vertical line, i repeat this at 20 yrds,
now for the big question ???? HOW do i know if the scope is exactly central above the barrel ????? , am i doing this correctly , the pellet by the way is travelling up the verticle line when i adjust the elevation turret, because i,m using adjustable mounts what can i do to ensure the scope is exactly above the barrel ???? or is it correct because its travelling up the vertical line ( pellets ) when i adjust the elevation turret ???? . basically i,have the rifle shooting spot on but i really am unsure if the scope is central above the barrel, i set my parallax wheel distances by using horizontal lines,
is what i,m doing correct or is there a simpler way of checking the scope above the barrel

    thanks in anticipation

i would not worry about it.
if i have it correct and you are out of line by 1mm and you zero in at 30yards so is on the cross hairs the crossover would only be 1mm out at 55 yards.
i personally would not be worried about that you would get far more error due to parallax.

What if the bore of your barrel is off centre? What if your barrel is bent?

The gun is spot on, don’t worry about it.

I can see you problem Bob.
Half the scope "was" central above the barrel, the other half was on the floor lol

    What she said
I was that intrigued by the oriental young ladies demonstration ,I google translated what she was saying.

“ So my cheapskate scouse boyfriend thinks he can buy me a blouse that makes me look like an electric eel, lets see if he notices any zero shift when he’s shooting tomorrow “.OK
