Sad news It is with deep regret that I have to inform you that Andrew Luckley (known on here as the Talented Mr. Ripley), of Thorn Dell and Woodview, was killed in a apparent climbing accident at Steall Falls, Glen Nevis last Thursday. I am sure everyone will join me in sending our deepest sympathy to his family and friends.
Yep, an instantly likeable chap... the last target that gave him his GP win (on his second GP ever) was still falling I think before he was on his feet asking me how to go about setting up a website for his club...
Hello, This is tragic news, I feel very sorry for all his family and friends. I also feel very awkward, the poor guy enquired about the new club I am setting up a couple of days before his tragic accident. May the poor guy RIP. Peter. LL.
I've just read this with a growing sense of disbelief. What a tragedy, how desparately sad! My condolences to his family at this sad time. Second ever GP & he won it, obviously a great talent that we'll never now get to see fully develope. I never met the chap but I wish now that I'd had that opportunity.
I'm sorry to hear this, both as an airgunner and a former climber my thoughts are with Andrew and his family.
My deepest condolances go out to all his family and friends, I shot round with Andrew at GP5 and there is no nicer guy you could have wished to meet. A real loss to the human race. With great sadness Glenn
I didn't realise who it was until i spoke to Ryan, met Andy at the Anglo and had a good chat with him in the pub, cracking lad and wish all the best to his family. Pete
Andrew Luckley Shot round with Andrew at GP5 , Such a good Shot and one hell of a nice chap, he will be sadly missed.. Karl and Debbie
Very sad news indeed. Spoke top him after GP5 congratulating him on his superb round. As many have already said seemed like a really nice guy and a very talented one at that, as he told me that he only got into the competition side of things in february. What a loss... R.I.P
Thanks for this guys and thanks Robf for the signpost here from AAOC I originally posted this news on that site following contact from his girlfriend on the airgun bbs. I refrained from posting a valediction on the airgun bbs as I knew Paris wanted to do that herself and this she has now done. She too told me that Andrew was on this forum with the nickname I gave him "The Talented Mr Ripley" as he owned a Ripley rifle when he first appearred at Woodview range in Co Durham. I am gonna miss my mate as I'm sure many others will too and I am glad he touched my life. I said a prayer for him at Thorndell last Sunday in the spot where I last saw him. A lovely balmy day and a distinct "presence in the wind and it holds all departed" (Runrig). ATVB Steve
