I would be interested to see your results ie before and after ?
Also your poi at 50 yards for comparison.

only asking as I tried the same with my S400F last year and found no change in pellet speed ,constant @ 768 to 772
But poi before groups of 12 mm ,and 36 mm after @ 50 yards of a bench and bags .

What did you use for a barrel band when you floated it?

    Would like to try this.

You don't need a band when you float it

Ok. Can you just let the cylinder be held by the thread at the valve end then?

I took the band of mate you don't need one like Steve 1000 said it's the barrel that floats not the cylinder

My experience of the band on a S400 is I took it off to float the barrel and it got knocked in the middle of a HFT comp and the POI moved a mile needless to say it went back on, that is why RFD's have a jig supplied by Air Arms to reset the barrel back in the correct position and they say it is a common fault with the S400 when the band becomes lose and the POI changes.

Agree with @martin blue eyes on this.

If you are going to free float I would st the very least get a barrel band from Rowan Engineering with a larger barrel diameters (they sell them in various sizes) so the barrel is floating but still constrained.

I’ve done this with my MPR FT even though it has a barrel with a larger outside diameter.

I've looked into this - read that the 12mm s400 barrel is a bit thin and knock sensitive for floating, so will also be interested to see how you get on with this

Works a treat on an s200 though.
