With all this chat about JSB's not being around for long i am going to look at new pellets for my guns. Now both my guns like 4.53's so i will need a pellet that is that size, I have heard that RWS are OK in some guns, they always look really clean and shiny ( unlike my guns ) so i was wondering what pellets are out there in the 4.53 flavour that are any good?? For some reason the beesa does not like anything like Bisley or H&N, dont know why as i thought they all liked them???

    Your thoughts all.

You just have to try different one's Rog, some barrels will shoot anything others are fussy, with BSA barrels i have found them to be very fussy on what pellets they like.

I have only seen the RWS Field in 4.52 in general the pellet is well made, weights are all very close and clean , the pellet is a little harder so my not suit all barrels but well worth a try i have been using them for a little while and they group well in my Walther.

Just to throw a spanner in the works, I have heard they are made by JSB, just relabelled. I may be totally wrong though!

RWS is the Ruag group who make at load of different types of pellets and live fire ammo so would be surprised if it was a JSB pellet

The RWS superfield has recently become available in 4.51, 4.52 was the original size, i have never seen them in 4.53, one of the bsa barrels i have used in the past was very good with premier lights aswell as jsb 4.53's, i still have that barrel, it was the one i used last year in my previous gun, they can be very fussy.

When the RWS Superfield's first came out I seem to recall the trade magazines mentioning that they were made by JSB for RUAG to their spec's.

The RWS Superfields looked like JSB's to me.

AFAIK, the only pellet that RWS does not make is the super fleld - it is a rebadged JSB

the superfield works well in my FWB, STeyr and Air Arms barrels

they are very good on weight variation and I have only had a few damaged pelles

It's worth trying the Superfields to see if your rifle likes them, I use them on both my Daystates and I'm very happy with groupings I can get.
They're only available in 4.51 or 4.52 though
(unless you want to try to squeeze a 5.51 in if you like a really tight fit :))

There was an article in AirgunWorld from July '09 about the RWS pellet making factory outside Nuremberg.

A lot of people talk about some pellets just being rebranded JSBs.
I think "made by JSB" doesn't mean the same thing as "lets's just make one type of pellet and put it in different branded tins"
Surely there would be different moulds for different customers, so even though they may look the same there will be very small differences between them.

There are some pictures somewhere on the web of different pellets, all supposed to be the same JSB, that have been cut in half. While the outsides all look similar the internal profiles are all slightly different.

Just spoke to Pavel at JSB and they have made pellets for RWS in the past. I've asked him if they are making them now and in the future but not had a reply yet.

I guess there would be not point in trying RWS only to find that they are pulled as well. There must be more out there that can be used for HFT??? What do other people use then??
