I shoot rimfire prone , bench , lsr at a fairly local range.
As you can imagine it's basically a 50mt range and 100yd range open space with large buttstops ( all enclosed by fences ).
We can set up knockdown targets for air rifles easily.
However to start a proper FT club is a different matter .
Any thoughts on how to go about this or does the layout make it impractable and a non starter ?

    Hi there.

We are an FT club based at a rimfire rangeand manage to hold FT shoots quite well. We do use a lot of the land around the range that is out of bounds for RF, but we have made use of the butts/banking, together with some target stands that get FT targets up to 6ft off the deck tohelp pickup the prevailing wind.

We also move the firing line forward of the normal RF firing line, but this requires exclusive use of the range. That allows us to use the butts on either side of the 100yd range and across the 50m butt.

the secret is being inventive with target placement plus building target stands to replicate tree mounted targets. Even if shooting when we can only use the RF firing line we can still mix 'n match targets to make an interesting & challenging course.
