Hard to do, I had one with blind spot at 16yrds, clear at 15 and 17 though, it will be a compromise, 8yrds was slightly blurry also.
Yes I have a couple with the 16yd blind spot aswell Conor, but I'm just setting another one up with a Gen 2 ret so just asking to see if anyones had any joy.
Re .The blind spot. I hope this may help. About 5yrs ago a bought a 20-50 which had a blind spot at 17 yds. I made extensive enquiries about getting rid of it with the following results. You wont get rid of it by re paralaxing. There was a special cam fitted to those that don't have the blind spot. I phoned Premier ret did not have any of the cams 5 years ago and would not try to help. I spoke to Nick Jenkinson who was importing the scopes originally and he didnt have any and couldnt help. Hope there is an answer out there. Fantastic scope.
Steve if your on about my old one I tried reparalaxing to get rid of the blind spot but it didn't... I just used to turn the mag down. but you could try a different lens in the 50ft adaptor maybe to cover that range? Sam Barr tried something like that with his nightforce I think.
I wouldn't worry about a small blind spot, at least you know exactly where it is i.e. distance, you are not blind either just out of focus, 15mm is not problem ebven in the blind spot, as long as the blind spot is no more than 4-5feet. If it is a big blind spot i.e. covering a few yrds then you may have problems and a reparralax may help, on the close ones, turn the mag down. I never really could get on with the Leupolds, fanatastic scopes that I would love to get on with but I ain't good enough to parralax with them precisely enough
Don't remember mine having a blind spot, needed the 50ft at about 13 or 15yds, cant remember. I tweaked the parallax to get it how i wanted it. Have one here... will have a peek today and see.
Thanks for your replys fellas,as said the blind spot isn't an issue as long as you know where it is.Anyone got any tips/tricks for reparallexing?I know how to do it,just what do you find as a good start point.
Conor had my VX3 end of Jan one of the last Dick Thomas did before he died in 2005, now in Hungary. That was GEN2 as well. Slap a two targets and newspaper out at 60 yards and see how it performs. You may find there is a limit to which it will come down to, above scope 57 yards 2 foot then it blacks out - nothing. So set above like 58 1/2+. Dick stated they all vary in what they will focus down to, anything from 15 to 18 yards. Above scope set to 60 would come down to 15 yards 2 foot. With 50ft adapter about 8 yards to 14 yards 1 ft. Easilly get a shot off on 10mm kills you know its in between. Dare say the cam/curly whirly can be modded on the VX3 if the erector tube will handle it. Usually the lower you can keep it the better but it dont always work.
