In wafta, we currently have a Summer (8 round) Championship and a Winter (6 round) championship. Both 40 shot Ft course.

I believe Swefta do a combined sumer + winter league.

What do the other regions do, comp wise???

In the FFTA we only do a 7 round Winter League, a Summer league would be nice

SWEFTA does only a summer league, but it starts early in the year. The problem in the winter is with access to the grounds due to conditions.

CSFTA runs a winter league. Next year it's looking good, we could very well have a couple of extra venues to play with, and perhaps with these 2 being more central on the M3 corridor, we hope to have a few more numbers attending as well.

NWFTA do 6 in winter and 7 in summer + regional show down and a 'NWFTA championship' if the calender isn't too mad

and for HFT we have 6 winter shoots at tawd and 7 for the NW 'gauntlet' spread around the clubs for the summer

NEFTA...summer is 6 rounds hunter or HFT. Winter is the FT league.
Many HFT shooters who don't shoot FT last year either went to the Midlands to shoot the Daystate Midlands hunter or stayed in the NEFTA region and shot SFT.
Quite a few FT shooters shoot the NEFTA hunters but usually do kneeling and standing but I have seen a few getting down and dirty for a change this year in round 1 :D:D

The regions that shoot a Winbter or Summer ft league, are the ft scores sent to Bfta and thus effect the shooters Bfta grade?

I am of the opinion that regional shoots should be of an easier standard than the Bfta Gp series, to encourage shooter at local level. Everyone like hitting targets! Would you say your regional Ft shoots are easier than gp?

However, if as with Wafta summer results the scores are sent in (Winter are not), it can effect the Bfta grade depending on how a shooter shoots locally. I personally only want my Bfta grade being set by Bfta Ft results.

The mild climate in the south west helps us to start our summer league in February and usually finish it in November. :D

Scores go in to the BFTA if the shooter has asked me to send them in. Members elect individually at the start of the season to send them in or not, they can't cherry pick or keep back a good or bad score.

Comparing the scores of our members who take part in the GP series with their scores in the home league, most of them score more highly at GPs which might suggest that our domestic courses are tougher. The difference is not a lot.

At Maldon we have the Wednesday night summer league, in the winter we have the Afterdark series on a Wednesday night.

Also a Saturday series running most weekends

I've wondered if the idea of being about to elect out of a shoot's grading (obviously before you start shooting, and you don't get any places) would make a difference to some. Obviously a pain for the regional sec... but just something that fell out of my head and onto the keyboard.

Steve you forgot to add that each shoot we shoot 2 rounds 30 FT open 30FT springer or 30 SFT ,And why we don't have a summer regional league, is the GP's run though the summer.

Yea very true Andy, but not everyone in the region can/wants to shoot in GP's, but might participate in a Summer League ;)

Point taken Steve but in the summer alot of people do their summer holidays with there family so generally its only the dedicated shooters that shoot during the summer so the FFTA don't shoot a summer League. And thats why the GP's take precedent during the summer. You are more than welcome to join me on the Gp's Steve.
