Should you still be awarded a kill for a donut ?

    Hi all

Over the last couple of months I have heard a lot of talk with regards to what should happen if someone misses a target only for it to be later pulled giving them 2 points .... presumably out of sympathy .

Anyway who thinks a miss is a miss and should therefore stay a BIG FAT ZERO even if a target is pulled ? If you come to Horsham it will be a ZERO !!!!

    Poll on the way

    Dave

EDIT :Oh and I said NO on the basis that if I was out hunting and missed a bunny it wouldn't play dead just to make me feel better . lol

Or do whats done in the nationals and replace a faulty target. The person who called it gets a 2 and everyone else gets what they get.

    Simples

Which makes sense, if you feel a target to be at fault then it's up to you to call for it to be looked at, if you don't & it gets changed later, tough titty... I had it earlier in the year, a thick bramble had fallen in front of the kill on a stander so I called it & had it removed.... much to the disgust of people before me that had shot it like it... eh Dave :D

I've been thinking about this though Dave & I don't see how you can award a 2 to people that plate it either, I mean there is no garauntee that they hit the kill.... ;)
    But a 0 is a 0 IMO ...

there's no guarantee they didn't hit the kill either

I don't think its too much to ask when you turn up to a shoot that all the targets actually work :D

What about the people who are yet to shoot it, what do they do draw straws for a misss a plate or a 2?

Thats why everyone gets the 2 isn't it?

The National way is better unfortunately not all clubs have spare targets the same as all those on the course, so pulling will always be the option for some. For it to be fair accross the board all targets would have to be replaced for like as some silhouettes are positioned because they are a rat or a squirrel or a magpie.

If you replaced a magpie with a rook for instances in a right to left wind those shooting the rook will have an advantage over those shooting before.

Straws  oh come on ...... it's nothing a quick game of naked table tennis followed by a lefty arm wrestle wouldn't settle .

TBH I have never actually given this subject any thought but its interesting to see the views of those who actually shoot courses week in week out .

Steve - thanks for reminding me on that one , I don't think it altered my dreadful score that day anyway

I feel that a donut is zilch in any Mans terms,

I also think that if someone calls a faulty target it should be replaced and the caller shoots again with a Marshal present who signs off on that particular score,

For Clubs that are less blessed with targets, the faulty target is pulled and all shooters present collect a kill.

Take to long and the Marshall's have a hard enough job at National level as it is, it certainly could not be done at regional level and I do know what I'm talking about;):D
