i have noticed recently people laying on thier side to get a better position , to me this is not prone , i would have thought the definition of prone is face or stomach down .
what is the UKAHFT position on this ?

I know what you mean, guilty as charged, but if a shot is close in & high up there is no choice IMO as it makes it a kneeler otherwise, so I would be interested to know the official ruling.

Would you have people shoot into the ground because they physically can't see the target?

    .

    I understand your issues Sultano.
But as Ryan states, if I was unable to twist my body for those very high angle shoots I would have to just fire off over the line, as my back would not let me shoot at that angle.
I still lie mainly on my front, the sport is ment to be for everyone and enjoyed by everyone. Yes there has to be rules, but making people lay on there front for those angled shoots would mean I for one would not bother shooting a course cos I dont fancy a night on the tramadol.
Its like the post with the kneelers, hats of to those that can get into positions that only people made of rubber can perform.
I like the HFT game, fun and enjoyable.

i don't have" issues " i asked a valid question as i had seen people assuming a position i had not seen used before and Scooby answered the question and i accepted that answer, i then made acouple of lighthearted comments aimed at Regsie.:)

someone else mentioned shooting whilst on your back. im assuming this is not valid as this would mean the muzzle of the gun would not be over the shooting line.. this question got asked at MAD on sunday

Cant see the point in nominating a target prone that cant be shot prone. Should be labled standing or kneeling i would think.

I fear this is going to be a vicious circle with HFT.

It's not olympic shooting with set positionals. It's not shot on a flat surface against targets of a set distance and height.

Course setters are always looking for some way to make the targets very difficult. So shooters will improvise and invent ways of shooting different types of targets. Then people will ask if this is acceptable and that is acceptable.

The officials will have to rule on certain improvisations ( kneeling has recently been tweaked ). Dutto has said many times that you can't have rules to cover every possible situation and who wants a rule book 1 foot thick? Perfectly good point.

It's virtually impossible ( without making it very bland ) to make every target perfectly equal for every age, shape and size of shooter. The dwarfs have suffered in recent years with the high up the peg prones ... maybe they have gained elsewhere? I shot a UKAHFT shoot where you had to get high on the peg and it was labelled prone only. No way could I get at the kill zone. The 2 blokes I was shooting with thought it was the easiest target on the course. I ended up deliberately shooting it in it's head and took a 1. Maybe that issue has been dealt with now.

'be interesting see what other tactics pop up this year.

The 'lying on your side is fine' statement opens up an whole world of options for elevated shots.:D

You asked if it was legal, so as you could do it a page after you were given the answer that, yes it is legal.
