Im considering getting one of these stocks to fit to my Mk3 FTR but Im not overly keen on the rubbery finish. So Im wondering how easy it would be to strip the black stuff off the wood and also does anyone know what type of wood is underneath? Has anyone been stupid enough to do this?

    Cheers

Pale, insipid beech appears to be the wood. I Understand that it's laminated (probably not very pretty). Got a few dings on my stock and you can see wood in the battery box but what's underneath the rubber does not look like something you'd want to oil! Potential hydrographics candidate though as it looks like it will come off fairly easily.

    Mk4 Target strip

Have just stripped my MK4 Target stock - found it fairly easy, although it took around a week to do. Using a Dremel with sanding attachment initially for some bits then various grades of sandpaper. The wood itself isn't great when stripped - not worth oiling, so sent mine to Prestige Custom Coatings for dipping and really pleased with the result
