Yesterday the new "Connect" Hawke Airmax Touch 3-12x32 scope was released, Hawke retail price £329. I'd been waiting for them to arrive, several places were listing them at £299 as were Optics Warehouse as a "special launch offer" and having previous excellent service I ordered one, a total of £307 with postage. Then found they had also stuck them on fleabay for £270 with free postage. So you use their website as most on here probably do and ending up paying almost £40 more plus their extra loss of fleabay fees, I'm not impressed but Caveat Emptor and all that.
On the plus side it arrived this morning, lovely clear glass, smooth controls, should give the MTC Connects a run for their money.

Optics Warehouse like any other retailer are perfectly entitled to sell there goods through any channel they wish at any price they wish. It is up to the buyer to decide where they purchase from and what price. If your pissed with anybody it should be yourself. All of the information was there for you before you purchased you just didnt do your part.

Of course they are entitled to do what they want I paid my money and got what I wanted, I just said I wasn't impressed that they just consider their website customers as cashcows with their "Special Launch Offer" then go on another selling platform cutting prices by not an inconsiderable amount.

No problem, you bought it via mail order, so have 14 days to return it - give them a call and explain the situation and say your willing to send this one back and order it again cheaper - or they could just sort you out with the difference and save everybody all the trouble - I'm leaning towards them giving you the difference TBH - I'm sure this will not be the first time it's happened ;)

Bezzer a couple of quick questions mate,

    1. Do you know if the ret easily seen by people who need/use reading glasses? I loved my viper connect but as my eyesight went down hill I couldn't get a clear ret, the eye piece was wound fully out at the end but still not clear for me :(

    2. Does this scope have a short eye relief the same as the viper connect?

Thanks John, that was quick, so eye relief is short the same or similar to the viper connect.

Anyone out there who uses reading glasses looked through one ?

I wear reading glasses Ian, tried it with and without them and it's no problem can get it crystal clear either way. Don't know what my prescription is, aren't the Connects just +/-2?, the Hawke seems to be more but it isn't mentioned in the Hawke website spec or in the booklets in the box. You could always test mine if you're going to next Kingsley shoot.

Hi John, yes I did hear him say that optisan are going to release a similar scope.

Thanks Bezzer, I will take you up on that offer.
With the mtc connect I could get a very clear image of the target at all distances, but as my near vision went tits up I lost all the detail of the ret and eventually found it impossible to use holdover as I couldn't see what I was doing. I had some very healthy scores using that scope before that happened, even contacted MTC to see if it could be rectified in any way, NO was the simple answer so well done to the competition for bringing out a scope that will suit more shooters.

Are the Optisan ones suppose to be short/zero eye releaf?

I currently use an MTC Connect 3-12x24. Like the scope for its DoF but the gap in the ret and only illuminates the centre cross does my head in.

I quite like the traditional eye releaf though, doesn't look daft on a gun lol

I have both now, just bought the Hawke very impressed. I have run out of adjustment on the connect and have been searching for a good replacement as I need -2.5.
The Hawke has bags of adjustment I can see the ret with or without contact lenses which I cannot do with connect.
Glass is clear and ret is simple although I prefer the SCB 2.
As the name suggests you Touch the scope similar to connect.

Bezzer, looks like you will have to change the title to 'very-impressed with optics warehouse', thanks again for letting me check your scope out.
