Does the depth of field alter significantly if you wind the scope eyepiece out to its full extent? ( about 10-15mm for most scopes i think )

The only thing the eye piece does is focus your eye to the crosshairs. A by product of this maybe some enlargement of the sight picture but it's going to be extremely marginal that it would reveal more depth of field to any useable degree. But your eye should be focused to the hairs or else with an ft scope your rangefinding may change from its previous setting.

That's interesting. I had a Big Nikko that I could not get to range find consistently in the Summer. I had put a used DG scope "enhancer" on it and that kept slipping. I would then give it a tug to get it back into place. Just wonder if I was moving the eyepiece at the same time. I shot like S H 1 T anyway but I'll make sure not to move the enhancer/ pigs ear in the future.

I screwed my occurar fully out once and the field I was in remained the same length. Hope that helps.

I'm not sure if it applies to all scopes but if the ocular eye piece isn't set exactly right on my March it's impossible to range find accurately over 40yds? weirdly this doesn't happen with my big Nikko, I can set the eye bell up anywhere with that and it will still range find spot on
