Lets build a list and see what people have used or are using, top to bottom... then we can see what's what and how they compare at least on paper...

If you click on the category, you can sort by that category (this may be buggy)

As we fill in the gaps i'll start to refine the info... we can add weight, warranty, RRP, high street price, 2nd hand approx price, possible issues, etc etc... click amount... all sorts...

Note: 2nd hand prices are only a guide and may vary due to demand, condition and accessories. This is not a statement of what a scope should sell for, only a guide as the region of what you could expect to pay.

[1]Nikko Diamond 10-50x60 Mk1 & 2, & BSA 10-50x60 : Many appear to focus as a minimum to 10yds, however they can be re-parallaxed closer, however experience says it should not be done below 9 yds. There seem to be some however that do come down to 8.

[2]Bushnell Elite 4200 8-32x40 focuses down to 10yds minimum. Unclear if that is AO or sidewheel version, or if the sidewheel version requires re-parallaxing to obtain this.

[3]Falcon T-35 focuses down to 12yds as standard.

[4]FT-X Focuses down to 10yds as standard

[5]Leupold Competitions can be re-parallaxed down to 9yds.

[6]Nightforce 12-42 x 56 NXS as standard requires re-parallaxing before it can be used for airgun ranges and still requires an adapter for close targets.

[7]Sightron SIII 10-50x60 focuses down to just under 10 yds as standard, however reports are that it can be possibly re-parallaxed to come down closer, other reports have minimum focus as 11yds.

    [8]Weaver T36 : 16.5 yds minimun focus, 50ft adapter required.

BSA 8-32X44 swf with a milldot ret. Nothing special but it does the job and I know that there are a few out there in the NEFTA region that are used to good effect.

I can confirm that the Big BSA can parallax down to 8yrds with a fine cross hair with target dot reticle but the new Big Nikko mk3 only goes down to 10yrds and reticles issued are mildot and Nato

Cheers guys, keep em coming... (see more notes at top post)

Luger, are you sure about those minimum focus ranges? I thought the mk1 only came down to 10 yds as well, but i think some re-parallax them.

Mk1 Nikko for me with Nato ret.

Most Nikkos come down to 10 yards when you buy them but they can be reparallaxed. Closest I ever managed with one was 8.5 yards but all others gave up the ghost at 55 yards if I took them below 9 yards (I have owned a few)

Current scope is set to 10 yards and I have a close focus adaptor on it - the closer you bring it the smaller the gap at the top end gets.

Nikko Mk 2 (same design as Mk.1 but with green turrets and mag ring) can only focus down to 10 yards.

Bushnell Elite 4200 8-32x40 (not 44), still in production, focuses down to 10yds minimum. I think now only duplex ("Multi-X") is available from factory. Mildot's seem to be fitted aftermarket. 2nd hand price around £300.

    Rob,

The older FT shooters might be able to help with the details of this, EFR on the end rings a bell.. Simon Young used one a few years ago on his GC2, has a ladder reticule set up for Barracuda match or BisMags. Would search but works IS has blocks on quite a few types of website :(

    Is that the sidewheel version?

    Or the AO version?
