Posted on Airgunbbs as well so appologies for double posting.

Am wanting to know the min and max focus range of Nightforce 12-42s with and without Leupold 50ft adapters that have been modded for Field Target shooting.

If you could also let me know who modified them it would be appreciated.

Also a guide as to how to do one, obviously if I choose to do this it's at my own risk.:eek:

hello Matt, the one I looked at had a minimum of just over 20y. Think Nick Jenkinson may have done that one, but it was mid 90's when he had link arms up and running.

Tested it along side the fixed 36x FT nightforce - fixed was better in every way (for me).:D

that would seem to tally with the conversations i've had with Terry Ord at Bisley... nick worked on his and it only came down to 20yd without the close focus adapter.

think it also has a whole between 17 and 20 in the focus range even with.

I can confirm that Terry's will only focus down to 20yrds but he still won't believe me that he doesn't need it and should give it to me :)
Still a very, very nice scope

You guys are confirming what I remember.

Think there was a huge gap of about 7 yards, but it didn't really matter as it was at the flattest point of trajectory, so it didn't really matter.

Seem to think there are one or two kicking about that were modded by the factory, wasn't Chris Cundy's done by the factory?

My benchrest ones all come down to 22 yards and then using a 50ft adapter they come down to approx 11 yards, but was hankering after a sidewheel.

    Any more onfo appreciated.

Matt i did three or more BR 42's when they first came out in mid 98, no earlier and a fair few sold by a very small shop up towards you.
The FT was 1995 only know of two ever sold by Jenky.
The illuminated ret 40 mags were out late 1993 approx £800 then via Jenky, very troublesome one bloke died Brian Dix waiting 2 yrs for a repair and still didnt get scope back same as most others well in excess of 12 months, Tasco far superior optically!
NXS from 2002 and only come down to 22 yards in 42 mag, only done one. Nice story about Terry's, i declined that one at the time knowing what they did the second time it went back to US.
BR like yours will come down to 17 yards in 42 mag and easy like all others to do.
