new wafta club --- oaktree ftc

i would like to annouce a new welsh field target club ,i have been considering starting a club for a while ,the late john thomas and myself had been talking about it for years ,with the death of john i thought it was about time i did something about it .so ,

i have started the club and it is to be called "oak tree f.t.c " and will be situated at cwm risca farm tondu

i have restricted the membership to dedicated ft of hft shooters for the time being ,

i have applied for nsra affilation and i am assured that will be in place by the end of this week .and i am awaiting affilaition to wafta and the bfta

i am holding an open shoot on the 29.08.2011 so all are welcome .

this is my 1st attempt to start a club and i am lucky enough to have the full supprt of the farmer and most of the kit is already in place ,

so there it is ...oak tree f.t.c

    thanks

    mike

Sounds like you've done all the donkey work but having gone through the experience about 8 years ago if I can offer any help, it's there for the asking.

    Oh Dorian

Cost Doz is something Mike is working out for us.

You can be a member of 2 clubs just ensure you stipulate which club you want to be registered to.

Tough **** about date of the open haahaaaaa.....

    new shoot

cost of membership will be £40 per year ,this will be from january to january ,i have paid for the insurance up till december as it was £65 for the rest of the year ,so any off the shooters that commit to joining will only have to pay from january 2012 as i will be holding another shoot later in the year about november time so that should cover the cost of this years insurance

all paid up members will have full accses to the club whenever they want and will be issued keys ,any visitors will have to pay £3.00 per vist and will have to be with a full member to have access to the club
i will be restricting the memebrship to a max of 12 .
i have agreed with the farmer that part of the field will be fenced of to make a roadway (at my expense )

so far i have commiitment from

    mike williams ...
    johnathan crocker ...
    jason davies ...

The interesting thing about this is that Tondu indoor club is also looking to join wafta.
Thus there will be three clubs probably within 2 miles of each other.

Plus I have for the last few weeks been looking at starting a club in Neath / Swansea area.

Wont be long before there will be a wafta shoot every week lol.

i think its a good thing that more clubs are starting ,

i asked myself what do we need from a club

1.. good land and woods to have the shoots
    2. somewhere undercover to shoot on wet days
    3. club house
    4. members that are prepaired to put in the work

myself and tosh were chatting last night and we are going to build another undercover area and extend the zero range

remember simon to start a club from nothing is going to cost a fair chunk of cash ...i know as i done it on my own with my own cash ,

I wont be buying a new car next year then lol

I have for several weeks now been making enquiries into setting up a club in the Neath area. I have a number of contacts with land owners from my work covering Mx events etc but as with everything its finding the right piece of land with good accesss and good shooting potential.
Did think Neath and District ( NaD) would be a name and we could use different grounds each time to host a shoot.
Thus we would become the Go-Nads club!

Anyway. There are quite a few tondu members travelling from the Neath / Swansea area and indeed there have been many past members that have come from the area. I know the cost of travelling has put some off keeping up membership at tondu and of course there is the Road access.

All in the planning stage at the moment but will keep members informed as to my plans.
Possable name will be Neath and District Hunter - Field Target Club
Club will be for HFT / Ft + Plinkers
On comp days, taking a leaf out of Swefta i would look to be be putting on Hft and ft comps so shooters can try both if they wish.
