Just seen this on another forum, could be worth a look, both for ft and benchrest. It parallaxes down to 10m!!!: Purpose-built for the lightweight requirements of short-range Benchrest, this new addition to the CompetitionTM*family also excels in precision rimfire and air-rifle applications. By eliminating the inherent weight of a variable-power mechanism, we were able to build the Competition™ Fixed 42x44 at just 20.7 ounces…without sacrificing the stunning images produced by ED glass or the robust mechanics for which we are known. As with every Nightforce riflescope, the adjustments (1/8 MOA per click, 10 MOA per revolution) track true and without backlash. The side parallax adjusts from 10 meters to infinity and the eyepiece focuses the etched glass reticle quickly. This CompetitionTM*model utilizes a 44mm objective lens and incorporates premium ED glass, which provides a beautiful image through the optic in any condition. The tube diameter is 30mm, with an overall length of 15.2 inches. Our fine line reticle, the CTR-2TM, and fine line with dot reticle, the CTR-3TM, are available in this model. Enhanced high contrast engraving is easier to see with larger numbers than most other riflescopes in its class. Internally, there are 45 minutes of angle of elevation adjustment and 35 minutes of windage adjustment available. As with every CompetitionTM*riflescope, the Fixed 42x44 undergoes a rigorous inspection process, to include our legendary impact test, before it can wear the Nightforce name. The game has changed. The Competition™ Fixed 42x44 is making the rules. http://nightforceoptics.com/competition/42x44
just making some tentative enquiries Gordon, that is some spec though, really lightweight and a real step change for nightforce to parallax down to 10m. I have seen the price in dollars $1750 mentioned
Just had a Google and spotted that Tone ,looks very impressive at £1236 ish ,just bought a Sightron 36x42 BRD Regards Gordon.
Could be interesting. £ is weak against the $ (1.46) when I last looked which is great for getting paid in them but not for buying in them. If it rangefinds well then it could be interesting as a comp 40x alternative but it would have to make up some ground in the price.
Yes, but still, there is options. First, you can probably get second hand one. Second, you can use someone you know in US, to order scope for you, and this person will send it to you later.
Secondhand Leup. Comps with a customshop reticle are unheard of in the UK since the export ban, I've been on the lookout since trying and failing to order a customshop x40 more than ten years ago. Also there have been instances of tactical scopes (which this is classed as) bought in the US and then posted out being confiscated on the way out. The only safe way is to get it bought in the US and then personally pick it up and hope for the best at customs...
There's an optics repair man in Kent who'll put any ret you like in any scope And he can open a big nikko, I know this
