Anyone had a look at the new Leupold VX6 7-42x56 yet?

Is this a possbile contender for the next FT wonderscope, or just not suitable for the job?

Would need to focus down to around 25yds without it to stand a chance. Looks like it would need to be re-parallaxed, unless anone knows different.

Bum: thought it could be a n option in case my VXIII 20-50 gives up at some point.

Not suitable. We had a fellow look into it. He bought one. Unable to parallax low enough to be usable.

From the left side of the pond.

Is it not possible to re-parallax the scope?

If I remember correctly, when that was either tried or discussed with Leupold, you loose the ability to range past about 45 yards

I ask because the old Premier reticule boosted 20-50 Leups will only focus down to about 15 yards, you need a 50 foot adaptor for the shorter distances.
So, if the new scope would do say 15 to 60, it might be OK.
I'm assuming the reparralax was to achieve 10 yards min(?), so I could see why it would then only do 45 max.
So I guess the question is, if you reparralax the scope to 60 yards max, what is the min distance it will achieve?

Premier also modified the focus system on the 20-50s to increase the breadth of focus. If you have a 20-50 with the standard Leupold focus mechanism set to top out at ~58 yards it will only come down to 19-20 yards without a close focus adapter rather than the 14-15 of the premier version. I know this because I've got one! That's not to say that this new scope has the same system.

The folks who've looked at it say it's a non-starter.....I guess they've fiddled about with the front end to see just what can be done.

OK, I just checked with the fellow who tried.

Even with the 50 ft adapter it won't work.
