My first full morning shoot with the Mk3 (returned from Daystate - repaired/rebuilt) with the T50 onboard.
The aim was to put as many pellets as possible through it to find out whether it will lock up again. Weather permitting, I will do the same thing on Wednesday on the 100yd range, and hopefully get through a tin of 500.
If it will do that faultlessly I will have some confidence that it's not going to let me down at a crucial moment.

This morning was beneficial in that I also got the feel of the gun again and began again to get the idea of making allowance for wind. (Of which there is some at Sywell - natural - organic and variant temperature. :) )

Tongue-in-cheek, I've asked Sam to book me in to the MFTA Rd2 at Far Coley next weekend.
I'll take the camera and hopefully 'take' the session I'm not shooting in. If the messy stuff hits the revolving thing :)eek:  :eek:o :D), I'll 'take' both sessions.

Please keep your fingers crossed for me. I desperately want this to work. :)

Yeah, as Paul said, hang in there Jack, once sorted and you have confidence with your gear you will soon be putting in some much better scores .... it's all a big learning curve at the beginning!

PS keep up with the photo's, they are really enjoyable :)

    Thanks

Thank you, both. Good, sound advice. And I know that you're right.

It's just that I've been running at this thing for eight months now (since Feb) and I feel as if I have got nowhere.
Only from a shooting point of view though.

    I've had a lot of fun. :D :D
I've met people I wouldn't otherwise have done - World Champs - European Champs - GP Champs - Masters - Shoot-off Champs & Plate Holders - Grade Champs
And a host of other people who have probably not been a champ of anything, but who are equally great characters - many of whom have accepted me as a friend. And I do sincerely appreciate that.

    I just need to start knocking targets down :eek:o :eek:o :eek:o :) :)

I'm already in double figures Simon. :D
    Take 6 away from 50 and you're left with 44. :)

Jack Harris & Andy Calpin had better look out next year though.
There's a rumour going round that when Andy heard I was back, & tooled up, he fell off his roof.

If Sam can sort it out Jack, you are welcome to shoot around with me as I am on the late session too. Neil.

That would be good Neil - if it's possible. No sweat if it's not. Don't hassle Sam to make it happen.
Double figures & I'll be like a dog with two tails. :)

I've spent this afternoon (Tuesday) at the range, with all the gear.
I've now checked all of my range-find positions on the side wheel and sorted out all of my elevation turret adjustments from 8yds right through to 55yds.
    Zeroed at 30yds. And I'm 50 clicks at 8yds & 38 clicks at 55yds.
The weather was kind to me. Cloudy - not too windy. Only slight rain. But fairly consent light.

What I didn't have time to do was check each of the settings. But I'll be back at the range tomorrow - so may just pick some random ranges and see how they work out with the settings I've got. :)

The gun has behaved itself. I've now put over 700 pellets through it, so I'm reasonably confident that it won't let me down at Far Coley on Sunday (unless, by chance, the course is in a lake :D:D)

OK, I'll give the barrel a clean too :)

Sam has confirmed today Neil that I'm on the AM session at Far Coley.
    See you there. :D

    Will do.

One thing I have learned during the course of yesterdays range-finding and top turret adjustments, is that beyond 35yds Superdomes lose a lot of accuracy & consistency. Superfields are marginally better at the extreme ranges, but still far from what I suspect are the best.
So the next primary exercise (but probably not until after Far Coley, though before Millride) is to experiment with pellets at 35 - 55yd ranges. I might get myself a tin of JSB Exacts for Sunday and see how I get on with them.
Presumably if I intend to do that, I should re-lead with the Exacts ??? :)
