It has come to my/our attention that there has been a few rumours circulating the HFT scene with regards to to Meon Valley Airgun Club. One of which is that the club has hit the skids and will be folding...Our club is celebrating its 20th year this summer and is in finer health than it ever has been before, membership is on the up, facilities are are the best they have ever been, club funds are healthy, we have 2 outdoor ranges and an indoor range/club house and a superb committee who are taking the club to new heights. If that's not a healthy club then I don't know what is!!
a second rumour was that our Open shoot scheduled for the 10th of this month was also cancelled due to the club folding, this too is complete bollocks. The shoot is going ahead as planned....

We all know the rumour mill works overtime behind the scenes but should anyone have any concerns or questions then maybe in future it'd be a good idea to speak to those concerned rather than repeating the bullshit spouted by others
Here's to another 20yrs of Meon Valley Airgun Club

Not heard anything within our club either and certainly wouldn't have expected any problems, especially after 20 odd years as one of the best clubs in the south:confused:

    See you guys tomorrow!

    MAD.....
No mention of it being a random event shoot!! :( £20 fuel £10 to shoot.. 5 pegs in go home
I no it will piss people of me posting this but tbh i dont care!
To turn up to an advertised shoot on here! then get there and have a zero range of 6 or 7 boards
It would appear that theres only 15 targets as they had to be shot twice through heavy folage
Lying on brambles Ect.. Little dissapointed :(

Reports of Meons Demise are grossly exaggerated...

Sorry, you should have been told to bring a bed:D

Seriously, you missed an absolutely superb shoot and fantastic day. Yes there were "only" 15 targets out with 2 pegs per lane. Its how it used to be done before UKAHFT and shouldn't be confused between the two. Think of it more as "classic" HFT. Each have there own merits and thats how it should be, variety.

Yes there were a couple of pegs where you were forced into a position and a couple where due to the rain the leaves had dropped over a target but nothing that couldn't have been taken either by shooting through or moving position slightly.

Apart from your good self, I didn't here a single complaint and no whistles all day. The gamble was easy enough looking to temp the over confident into a standing shot:rolleyes: but also hard enough to ensure that it wasn't going to be cleared.

The idea of running 3 different comps in one was refreshing in concept and many who would not normally pick up a pistol had a good go and enjoyed themselves, with some surprisingly good efforts (Good Shooting ChrisC). It's certainly a format we will be using;)

Great food from the "chuck" wagon and superb company.

    Well done Meon:cool:

PS. The only downside is that there was no liquid prize for knocking down the micro target on the pistol HFT with a .22 HW45. I think I should have had a barrel of Swift one or Wallops Woods for that one:p:D

Martyn I am sorry you were disappointed but everyone else seemed to have a good day. 5 pegs in that s only 3 targets you shot at, on the day there were well over 40 individual targets, pistol, gamble and open.

How many boards do you need to check your zero? 6 or 7 seems more than enough to me.

All the kills were shoot able if you had the ability (56 out of 60 points for the top score) ok sometimes you had to wait for the wind to move the foliage to get the clear shot and some interesting positions were required for the best option. The course was challenging and you had to think about most targets (I didn t knock the first 2 down either). As for brambles well I had to lie down on the wet ground for the prone shots but then again I could have taken them standing I suppose – we were in a wood shooting Hunter Field Target what did you expect!

Thanks to Nigel and Andrew Frost for the pistol course as I have never tried this before and I even managed to come second.

Once again I am sorry you did not enjoy the day but I will make you an offer. I will personally pay your entry fee next year on the condition that you try all 3 disciplines on the day and complete the course. I am confident you will enjoy the day.

    MAD.....
hi mate thanks for the kind offer:)
i just want to clear this up !! as for the 6-7 boards squeezed within 11-12ft of land to which i asked for a 25yrd zero board wich was taped out with a 25ft builders tape:eek:wasnt brilliant:( with 12inch grass at the end of your rifle (perhaps folage was the theme)...i personally think what you do is fantastic i take my hat off to those of you who can manipiulate pellets through branches brambles , even hit them when they are clearly
    not visible:eek:
i was not at all dissapointed with the course, mearly just that it was not advertised as a non UKAHFT spec
course, i was hoping to get a bit of much needed practice at a UKAHFT affiliated club of which i have many friends :) Not to spend X amount of pounds on a format i do not have an interest in shooting

perhaps now i understand how this event is run,i can come along with a springer , some razor blades ,and have a realy realy bad day next time :D:p

anyway as for meon i wish you all the best and hope to see you at other future events
