    You may well be right conor . won't know ness i try . i have lubed up 50 8.4s and 50 7.9s to try tomorrow . interesting on the digital scales . the old exacts were well up and down . the new ones were within 0.2 of a grain . one thing that struck me was that it is not all that easy to spot what is a 7.9 and a 8.4 . it occurs to me that some might be saying to the chrono man 7.9 guv and using a 8.4 .digital scales are cheap why not put em on the same table as the chrono . if the BFTA is so interested in stopping any funny goings on , they might think this should be done . after all what gives a bigger advantage . using a sling or running your rifle at 815 with an 8.4 ??? HOLLY

    PS 20 dry pellets to start with as a standard . then the 8.4s lubed and then the 7.9s . all exacts .

    PSS one of the german lads was saying he uses LT1 on his 8 4.53s , with very good results .

    I,v only had a steyr for 4 months but up to now the best result,s have been with AA7.9 sized to 5.1 and lubed with power lube and cleaning the barrel after every use.

    Hi Holly
    Tomorrow is Christmas day so you had better check with Christina before you go playing with guns.
    Run your Steyr DRY.....end of.
    7.9 pellets are usually shorter than 8.4's.
    Merry Christmas to you and Christina

    I use exacts unweighed (cos I'm idle) and use LT1. it doesn't seem to make any difference to group sizes but I wouldn't notice as I've never been able to hold the rifle still enough but it does make a difference over the chrono 20fps spread dry and 7fps lubed.
    I clean the barrel after every outing or it's like shooting a 12bore :eek:o

    I think there is no exact science when it comes to lubing or not. Too many people give conflicting answers so I think the best thing all round is to try all sorts of different approaches and see what is best for you and your rifle! I've tried lube and cleaning but to be honest I can't see a difference that can be noted as significant so really I'm still in search of the definitive solution to consistent, reliable shooting.

    Happy xmas:shot::rolleyes:

    lube

    Does Calps lube his pellets or weigh them ? (I know he dosn't shoot a Steyr) He takes them out of the tin or off the ground and shoots:) it's between the the ears if you think it helps it usually does.

    Merry Christmass all

    I have shot with calpers many times over the years and he REALLY does pick em up off the floor as he goes along , WHY . well my theory is that he puts em in tins and sells em to us ? that he why he keeps beating us . my lube at the Mo , is scotch and water . working a treat ??? HOLLY:):D:cool:

    I will shoot pellets of the ground if the previous shooter just spilled them from his Wilkins pouch:)
